Satisfied & Bewildered

Bought in March 2011 with 58K on it. Had a “ Rebuilt Title”. Now has 126K. Car had difficulties cooling( overheating) fixed fan relay to fuse box & replaced heater hose. Runs good again. A/C to costly to fix. Suspension & steering are perfect. One oddity : The engine in this GL is DEFINITELY a 1.6. I believe Suzuki decided to stick Surplus 2000 1.6 engines in some 02’s since it was the Esteem’s last year of production !

Still driving in 2021!

I bought my 2002 SuziQ 1.8L 5spd GLX Esteem Wagon in 2004 w/30,000 miles on it. Commuted 150 mi/day for 2yrs. Never a problem. Drove across country in 2015 with total confidence. In all these years, she has never have had a break-down. Have maintained routinely. Only other repairs were reasonably expected at those high mileage points, as with most vehicles. Still averaging 31 mpg (mostly town driving), no fluids' usage, no leaks. Only problem is 1 electric window needs manual assistance to close properly. Seat is not comfortable is my only complaint. Now that I've discovered these reviews, I'm encouraged to keep my SuziQ and not shop for a car until this one can't go anymore!

02 Esteem GLX

We bought one 6 months ago, with 58K, sunroof, it runs flawlessly. Parts are a little harder to find than some, and a little more expensive, for example the timing chain and related parts, but being a former mechanic I have more resources, so far nothing has gone wrong. Its gets good mileage too.

I want to clone this car!

This really is the most amazing car I have ever owned. Yes, it's a mom car - I have the wagon version - but then I am a mom so it fits. While not a flashy car it's reliable and very inexpensive to own.
