Great for our family, and our wallets

We are leasing a 2007 XR with sunroof, and auto trans. We love it. We were getting 17MPG with our Nissan Quest minivan, now we're getting 27 overall. It actually wasn't hard to make the transition. We have one 11 year old daughter. (Three of us total) It's great for our family. If I had it to do all over, I would ditch the sunroof, and get a 5 speed manual. The wife wanted the sunroof, and guess who won. You can take it on a road trip, and get over 30MPG. Lots of bang for the buck!

Great Car, Great MPG!!

It was love at first sight, even after the "honeymoon" stage was over, the car amazes me everyday. I love this car, the best part is the gas mileage. I love the interior room, we take it traveling instead of our Envoy. Don't let the word out though, I don't want there to be a parking lot full of Matrix's, it will be hard to find my baby.

I love it!!

I bought my Matrix back in December of 2006 Used!!! It is the best car I have ever owned! I love the gas mileage! I love the way the car handles. It sleek exterior is as cool as the interior! The love the way the dashboard is set up! The car has a sporty look yet it is a hatchback. I rear seats fold down to make room for extra cargo. Also the passenger seat folds down into a flat table surface for my laptop. It has 2 power outlet jacks and an regular plug outlet that interchanges form 115v to 120v!!!

good car for the money

and your getting the "Toyota" name and reliability. I can only say a few negative things about the Matrix. Its not that great in the snow for a front wheel drive car. Back end could use more weight. Instrument panel and dials could be updated with push buttons rather than dials. Wish the car had extra outlets in the back of the car for kids video games and such. I bought this car used, was only 1 year old. So not sure if it would have come with option of window tinting. You can hea the radio playing outside the car and they are right about noise, but its not bad. The wheels do spin when the road is slippery or icy. Overall, I love the car. Reminds me of a better version of my WV Rabbit. Good gas milage, almost to what they show on sticker. I get about 23 miles in the city of Pittsburgh and easily get 30+ on highway traveling, even with the car full of my family (4) and luggage. I had the choice of a Pontiac Vibe or Toyota, even though both are basically same car, I took the Toyota due to the name and I know I will get a better resale value if I sell the car.

One of my best choices

I purchased the 2005 automatic AWD XR model to have room in the very back for my large breed dog and still room for family in the main part. I love how the back seats fold completely down which has been helpful for moves. I wanted AWD because of nasty winters. It gets great gas mileage and I drive both city and highway. The car has never given me any issues and I have had it for 2 years with a weekly commute of close to 300 miles.

Pretty good overall

I have a 2007 base model manual transmission. I've really only driven a few other cars in my life (Scion Xa, Ford Windstar, Chevy Camaro, Chevy Prizm (owned), Ford Taurus/Escort), so I may be biased. In any case, this car is really very nice. It has pretty good kick (which I understand may not be the same in automatic), comfortable, great cargo room, stylish for a base model. My only complaint would be the engine whine at higher rpms (~3000 and up). It doesn't actually bother me much but I thought I would point it out. I've only had it a couple months but I am very fond of it. The Scion Xa, while cheaper, doesn't hold a candle. It's buzzy, cheap, bouncy, and altogether kind of a lousy car.

Love it!

We love this car! We had been looking for awhile at all different cars and suvs but this one really had everything we were looking for. Lots of space and the hatchback is awesome for lugging all our baby gear! It handles nicely on the highway and rural roads. The dashboard was designed very efficiently. Everything is easily accessable. Lots of leg room in the front and back seating areas. We had difficulty getting our son in and out of his rear-facing car seat in our other car, but with this one it is so simple! Great quality car for the price!

WHAT A SHAME

I have heard that the toyota Matrix is about as good as the Corilla but i thoguht wrong. The problems started from day 2. The engine wouldn't start. So i took it to the back to the dealership. They said there was nothing wrong with the car but i knew they where lying. Then the radio was broking. that sucked. I thought this car would be really great but it wasn't. so i'm dying to get rid of this car. Maybe I can sell it to my friend down in Long Beach
