Love this car

Never (over 100k miles) had a problem with this car outside of std maint. Fun to drive - sporty and sophisticated. Looks good, performs great. Std complaints-slightly more $ to maintain than some others (but worth it), cup holders not the best design.

Piece of Junk

Where do I begin? I bought this car new and after I owned it for 1 week it wouldn't crank. They had to tow it in. It's been nothing but trouble ever since. The radio completely quit around 25,000 miles. I have replaced 4 sensors. The material they used for the interior looks awful. It does not hold up whether you take care of it or not. The driver's side window fell off the track (that cost me $400), not to mention one of the rear seatbelts quit working(another $400). Keep in mind that this car only has 50,000 miles on it and it's had all of these problems. Buy an American Made car. I have definitely learned my lesson! Volkswagens are junk!!!!

Not Worth the Money

Styling, roominess and handling all fine but after three years started to have problems with front end. Have had to replace tie rods numerous times and at 70K miles started to have problems with sludge. Had to find a good mechanic because dealer's service became too costly.

Looks good and that's it

I had to make major repairs on this car 3 times in first year. Very expensive to fix. This car looks great but is not reliable in the least bit. I was lucky to find a buyer to take it off my hands.

Horrible Car

I had this car for a year. The "sensor" and check engine light came on two days after I purchased the car and would never turn off and apparently no mechanic on earth is able to fix it. I took it to a licensed dealership in Vegas and they weren't able to fix it after two weeks. On top of the unbelievably poor reliability the repairs cost a fortune. If you are considering this car turn and run away. I can't say enough bad things about this car.

Quick, comfy and the style still looks good.

For a small engine, the 1.8T is great with the manual. It has plenty of zip. Avoid dealership work, get's pricey. Finding some non dealer mechanics who have the right tools to work on this is very worthwhile. Comfortable ride, handles the road well. Purrs down the highway at around 80 and still maintains great mileage. Not thrilled with the cupholders. Like the display and lighting a lot. Roomy trunk plus full size spare.

2000 VW Passat Wagon

Just not a good vehicle, I'd rather walk. Many "sensor" problems when nothing was wrong with what was being monitored. Need more cowbell.
