Only have been driving the car for a week, but it is clearly the best SUV I have experienced. My wife drives the Mercedes 300 - a fine car as well, but I have always preferred BMY engine performance and handling. The X3 is simply a pleasure to drive.

Love it. Car is comfy, quick and the wonderful B58 Twin-Scroll Turbo I6 makes all the right noises! Awesome daily driver. Period! Interior has all of the amenities you could ever ask for. Ride is luxury-oriented but also can grip & RIP through the corners, almost as well as any sports sedan out there pretty much.

I bought a 2021 BMW X5 4.0 with the M Sports Package and this had been one of best vehicles ever owned. The reliability, comfort and curb appeal adds to it value. I traded a 2016 Lexus GX 460 for the X5 and have no regrets!

It's all about the B58 in the M40i. I dinged it one star on comfort because this little SUV rides quite "sporty" even in Comfort mode. I absolutely love this about the car, but I could see how some would feel this is too harsh as it is not a luxurious, cushy ride. But tuck this little beast into a fast corner and it's just...wow! This little German SUV is a sleeper. While the X3M is very nice, the M40i is the perfect balance in my opinion. BMW has really stepped up their game in the X3.

This is my 2nd BMW after keeping my previous 528 for over a dozen years ! Still going strong but had to change. After test driving a few, came back to BMW... Its like Apple, once you get an iPhone, it is hard to switch ! Bought a CPO, which gives us more time. Nice car. Good power. Have to constantly check the speedometer to ensure we stay within limits ! So silent and smooth... Love it !

The main issue I've had with this car is learning its vast number of controls, some of which are in strange places (such as at the end of the directional signal stalk) and are not clearly marked. The gearshift, for example, is counter-intuitive, and is moved backwards to go forwards, and vice versa-unlike most cars, it doesn't really move and fit into a slot for the appropriate gear. For no fathomable reason, the rear view camera stays on when you then drive forward. The warning system, for a car crossing or a person crossing, is unreliable; for example, if you have the car in reverse, the car hasn't moved yet, but a person walks behind the car, the warning signal does not sound--it only sounds if the car is already moving in reverse (if the pedestrian was walking right behind the car, you already hit him or her). There are also other "features" that make no sense. On the other hand, the car is fun to drive, reasonably powerful, attractive (I think--my wife disagrees), comfortable (except that one feels remarkably many bumps in the road), and quiet.

Usually, when you have a bad outcome, people bash the service provider, but not in this case. I wasn't able to get approved without a down payment for a car. But I would like to take out the time and Thank Marcus England from the upmost, for the outstanding customer service, he has been giving me for the past 2 weeks. I love the car and at the same time I can't help to hate it. What I love about the car would be the luxurious interior, comfortable and quiet cabin, smooth ride, ease of access, and a few extra features that were put in as an add-on. What I don't like about this car would be the poor fuel economy for the 30i model, especially when compared to the B-58 engine. Apple carplay connection issues, no option for remote start unless I want to void warranty, and no option for the iDrive Recorder App. Exterior Styling - 8.5/10 Interior Styling - 9/10 Comfort - 9.5/10 Cargo space - 8.5/10 Driving smoothness - 9.5/10 Horsepower - 7/10 Fuel Economy - 3/10 It's been an overall fun car to get around in. It's easy to get in and out of, smooth on bumpy roads, and it is quiet. The fact that only 2022 models and newer offer remote start and iDrive recorder is a big disappointment. But I think my biggest disappointment would be the fuel economy. As I had the B-58 in the past and averaged out 11.5L/100km and in this X3 am averaging 13.5/100km which was worse than my pick up truck. I might not keep this car for long-term just because of how poor the fuel economy is.

This is the most underrated gems in the used diesel SUV market—but only if you’re the right kind of owner. Powered by the soon becoming legendary M57 inline-six diesel engine, this version of the E70 X5 combines German engineering with long-haul durability if treated right….and by treated right, I mean ideally maintained by someone who can turn a wrench and not the type of owner who wants to drop it off at the dealership for every noise or light. This vehicle is ideal for the hands-on car enthusiast who appreciates the mechanical integrity of a proper diesel engine and doesn’t mind putting in garage time to keep it in good shape. If you're someone who already loves BMWs and understands their quirks, this vehicle will feel like a rewarding project and a fantastic daily driver in one package. The M57 diesel engine is incredibly robust and becomes one of the best engines only with one huge caveat…the emissions equipment needs to be removed. In fact, I would not recommend owning this vehicle if you don’t plan or cannot do this in your state legally. Once deleted, this engine opens up and delivers a strong blend of torque, horse power and efficiency, making it an excellent tow vehicle. It's perfect for hauling a car trailer, camper, or family gear around without struggle. Stock, it’s already torquey, but with the deletes and a mild tune, this becomes a real beast without sacrificing reliability...and if given a race tune, this thing will hurt other drivers' feelings pulling from stop lights or on the freeway. The chassis overall is “decent” (Being said by a vintage BMW enthusiast, this is very much a compliment to today’s standards), but there are known maintenance pain points that a mechanically inclined owner should be aware of. If you plan to purchase from a used dealership or private seller, you’ll most likely need to do a suspension refresh including replacement of struts, bushings, arms etc.…possibly an engine refresh including valve cover seals, intake manifold cleaning and replacement of other various leaky seals…work on the cooling system including but not limited to replacing lines, hoses, main/expansion coolant tank as these are plastic and will crack and fail due to heat over time. There will be some normal interior wear including the finishes of center console buttons peeling off but are easily replaceable. Something important to note when purchasing is the interior sunroof shade condition, including whether it is completely operable and if there are any signs of sagging/peeling fabric. Any issue with the sunroof should reflect in the price as this item is very intricate, expensive, and difficult to work on. These aren’t dealbreakers though...just things to note when looking to purchase and if they’ve been covered in recent maintenance...if they haven't, plan for work that will inevitably need to be done. Again, don’t expect it to be hands-off, you’ve got to earn this one…But if you're up for the task, you’ll be rewarded with one of BMW’s most versatile platforms.

Azmat and the manager (I don’t immediately recall his name) We’re very attentive and helpful during our visit… with no high pressure sales tactics. While there, we also had the opportunity to look at a number of other vehicles that had not yet listed on cars.com. While there, we also had an opportunity to see the level of work that they perform in setting cars up for maintenance and addressing anything needed prior to the car being listed for sale. Although the car we came to see, did not have all of the options that we were looking for, prices were VERY reasonable, and they had a good selection of vehicles. Even though they didn’t have the ideal vehicle in stock, they were more than willing to bring in one that would work, even from out of state, to help us find the right vehicle. We were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy during our visit and, even though we found the ideal vehicle elsewhere, the level of respect was unparalleled compared to other dealers and dealerships that we visited. I cannot believe that BMW put a 4 cylinder with turbo in an X3. It is the single problem I have with my car. otherwise it is perfect. The 6 cylinder in my 2005 was Awesome!!!!! BMW stands for Performance, GIVE IT.

Before you buy any BMW older than 2018, check out the Isley V BMW lawsuit. You will find the V8 in all pre 2018 BMW's to be problematic for oil leaks and valve stem failures due to defective engine design and excessive heat. I have this X5 with the V8 and it's a wonderful car to drive and look at. It's my 5th BMW and by far the most reliable. Unfortunately, even with all the meticulous care, my car has experienced the oil leak and smoking exhaust, just like all the N63 & N63TU engines through 2018 will experience this problem and the cost to repair exceeds $20K from the dealer. If you find one that had the valve stem seals replaced, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, it's a great vehicle in many ways.

STAR AUTO MALL: Worst car dealer EVER! I bought a 2017 BMW X3. They never checked the car! I had problems immediately! I called, emailed & texted... Star Auto Mall would NOT return my calls, texts or emails! I went to BMW dealer, and they found lots of issues! Wires hanging down, tires rubbing, etc. It cost me $480 to fix it! I billed Star Auto Mall, and it looks like they're just chucking me the finger!! AVOID these incompetent thieves!
