The E53 X5 is based on the near legendary E39 5 series chassis. Because of this it drives and handles more like a sports car than any other SUV of its time, and more so than most current SUVs. Ours is the 3.0i, with BMW’s awesome straight six, which will run forever if not neglected. We’ve had no major trouble with it at all, and really no minor trouble either. Regular maintenance, and now that it has over 100,000 miles on it, suspension bushings and things like that. It’s been properly maintained so its reliability has been pretty bulletproof. The styling is still very good even at its age, and the interior is still one of the nicer designs and more comfortable interiors that you’ll find in an SUV. Highly recommended as a used SUV, but find one that was well-maintained to avoid issues that any neglected car can have.

I am 1st owner in my 2008 bmw x3 , I have 110,XXX. This car has been so reliable that I will not get rid of it, I mean why? Besides Wear n tear, ive replaced the alternator and coolant. The key is to buy the bmw brand and a mechanic who knows how to work on it. Before this car I had a 94' 318i in 1998-2007 that finally gave out at 220,xxx. Had I known the mechanic I have now, probably would've lasted longer.

I've had three 2015 X1's. Drove the wheels off one, one got stolen and on my third. Love this car! So economical and the gps is off satellite, not cell tower. Get maps ANYWHERE, for life. I only have 72k on it and will be my last vehicle.

Recently purchased 2013 bmw 528i Xdrive - Alpine white over cinnamon brown beautiful spec. 80k miles - 6 months later no problems. Equipped with cold weather package - and 360 camera. Amazing technology for the year. The illuminated door handles at night really provide a luxury feel before entering the comfortable interior. Extremely smooth drive but then you put it in Sport mode and everything changes - faster throttle response. Tighter steering, propelling you forward leaving everyone in your rear view. The sound system although not specified as Harman/Kardon still is loud enough for me to not care. Really loud and stock Bluetooth connectivity is great. Engine has light rattle sound on start up but it’s a common noise for that base engine and gets quieter when engine warms up. First bmw and easily stands out as one of my favorite cars owned to date.

On Saturday, Decemeber 7, 2024 I met Sam from DMV Auto Group. I found a Range Rover Sport at the dealership. I completed the deal and was informed about the extra incentives that was given by Sam. Generally people start out by saying they are expensive to maintain, just don't go to the dealership. In every City there is someone who specializes in BMW older models. 2500 miles is oil change time, not 5000 miles like dealership will tell you. I strongly believe the reason they tell you that is something will go wrong and you will be right back in there to fix a $3000 repair that normally would cost you $75 elsewhere, As this happened to me. At 100,000 miles, whether it needs it or not, REPLACE "VISA VALVE". This part sits on the side of the motor right at the oil stick. There's a light rattle sometimes when I start the car, then goes away. When it got bad enough, check engine light came on, it stopped in its tracks. It took my son one minute to take off 3 screws and replace. The part was $59.00 on Amazon! Dealership wanted $500 for the part and $300 to put it on. Car is good as new.

This is a surprisingly fun car. We bought it mainly to not feel guilty running the AC in car line - but got to appreciate it in various situation. The range isn't great, the flimsy tires need getting used to - but for what a used (ideally certified pre-owned) one goes for - I really don't think you can go wrong. Unless you live in a city and have good places to charge - it probably is not a suitable car as your only car - but it's a great addition if you don't depend on it for a 300 mile drive. Accelerations is fun, the car is a lot bigger inside than it looks. It has a little bit of a theme park ride feel to it at times.

I bought a 2015 with over 100K miles on it. I love the interior and the handling, and the utility of having a 3 series BMW with a hatchback. There's loads of room in the back seat and in the trunk area. I wish I could update the tech - it's based off v3.0 of wireless, so most of the built-in tech does not work. The car was well cared for, so I hope I can get through a few happy years of ownership without the notorious large BMW repair bills...

Had mine 11 yrs. Bought in 2011 for 6k with 29000 mike's, yr 2002 3.0 sport , mint in siennarot red. Now has 36k miles, still mint , has a James bond theme numberplate related to "goldeneye" and wouldn't sell for 15k
