November 12th 2024, I bought my Dodge Dakota SXT 3.7 L, automatic 2x4 from the original owner, it was a commuter truck from Fredericksburg Virginia to DC I picked it up with 258,000 / Now 290k , It's been a great truck for what I need. I'd like to find a machinist and get the heads redone. The bottom end should be pretty good but I'll give it a good look through when I have the funds. Just keep up with simple maintenance especially with suspension and steering parts don't let things go too long cost more money. That has been my experience with many vehicles. NO doubt, I do like this DAK!

Best used truck I've owned. Makes the 3 rd Dakota I've owned. 1st pre-owned. Daily driver still today. Has plenty of power and rides great. And handles on the road awesome. And with the 4.7 I pull several different types of trailers.

I bought my 2004 Dodge Dakota brand new. I have over 230k miles on it. My biggest issue with it is the transmission. I was just over 100k when it went out. I've since gone through another, that one being a "rebuilt", but I suspect it was just taken from the junk yard. My current one was rebuilt by a true old-school transmission specialist that has more miles on it than the original. I've had some engine issues of late. But overall I've been pretty satisfied with my truck. Paint is coming off the hood, but that's minor to me with respect to it's age. Back to the transmission. The guy who did my good rebuild said the tranny in the '04 isn't really good for pulling and that it's the same one they use in the Caravan. I believe him. Oh, and gas milage could be better. I average 17 MPG which isn't bad for a 20 year old truck. Wishing though it go closer to 20+

The Dakota has exceeded my expectations in more ways than one. This is the reason I'm in search of my next Dakota I aware that this truck is discontinue but I don't want to give up just yet!!! Please help me find another Dakota.

I have owned three different Dakotas. All three of them we're extremely reliable and The Styling can't be beat. My 2001 had the 4.7 engine and it was a beast. My 2008 Dakota is absolutely beautiful. It has the 3.7 liter engine, which seems to do pretty good.

I have owned my 2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7 Laramie since 2012 as of writing this is in the middle of August 2025. I have had no issues with my truck. The truck runs perfect I’ve towed heavy loads many times over 500 miles. This is the best vehicle I’ve ever had. I had a 1986 Toyota pick up with a 22 R engine that blew the head gaskets twice back in 1992. I’ve had a 2016 Toyota Highlander that one was OK but the interior started cracking. I have a 2020 Kia Telluride had to replace the transmission. I’ve had a 1985 GMC blazer had to replace the engine in 1992 with less then 100,00 miles on it. Right now my truck sits on 18 inch rims 31 inch tires no suspension lift. The 2005 dakota has KO 3 all terrain 31 inch tires and has a bunch of overland equipment on it with a Ikamper tent In the interior it has no cracks or blemishes. I can tell you that this is probably the best truck I will own for the rest of my life I don’t plan to ever get rid of it like I said this is a solid truck. I love it. The truck also has over 170,000 miles on it. No transmission issues no engine issues no issues at all. i’ve also taken it out trailing in a mountains, terrain where you see Toyota Trd pros jjeeps, and everything and I get a lot of compliments on it.

I bought my 2004 Dakota Club Cab SLT 4.7 Automatic in 2008 from a Dodge dealership used car lot. I love this truck. I've always owned mini/mid sized trucks. Datsun,Nissan,Ford Ranger, and this Dakota is the best. The comfort, drivabilty is superior. The rack and pinion steering, 4 wheel disc brakes,limited slip differential, 3.92 gears all contribute to the driving experience. I didn't know this until a few years after owning, but these trucks are classified as 3/4 ton. They have the highest towing capacity 6440 lbs. They have separate trailer circuitry independent from truck lighting. It's own trailer light fuses. The only extended cab with forward faceing rear seats with shoulder restraints. I have about 150,000 it's now 1/7/2023.

It's a great and good riding and fun to drive I however have been having problems when changing the rear brakes pads especially on the drivers side, and the emergency rear brake cable as well, other wise it's a pretty reliable truck, when commuting or hauling things, do need a new years wifi ,cd , am/fm radio.

2004 3.7 2wd Club Cab 265,000 miles, daily driver, original owner. I had it undercoated and despite all the Michigan winters, there is very little rust. I pull my Searay 250 Sundancer to the marina and back each year and it does a fine job. I have a limited slip differential which helps in snow and rain. MPG is 17 to 19 no matter how you drive. Currently on the 2nd set of spark plugs and 2nd muffler/tail pipe. Changed upper and lower ball joints and engine valve lifters 225k. Everything,except brakes, tires, battery, radiator, hoses and belt, is original. The AC still works great. She still has plenty of power and has never let me down. I've had many vehicles throughout the years and this one is without a doubt the most durable and reliable I've owned.

bought this truck an found it to be very reliable i don't understand the one hate comment on it they probably don't take good care of it but overall the trucks worth it an i plan on keeping it an giving it to a family member once i die its got over 213,477 thousand miles on it, its getting 25 miles per gallon its 4x4 five speed automatic but i want to switch it to manual an same thing for the 4x4 nob love the upper center console computer i would get the higher end radio head to be honest but imma keep it original its got the 4.7 liter flex fuel v8 in it i can fit six in the cab though i wish it had a long bed instead of a short bed though i need to replace the front axles the grind in four wheel drive when i steer to the left an replace all the tyres

This my 2nd Dodge Dakota, I would recommend another one to anyone who wants manual truck. My 1st was 1997 Dodge Dakota, I actually prefer the 97 style to the 2006 model, this year would make my truck 26 yrs old. Still on the road, just has a few maintenance issues, still planning on keeping my 97, gonna put it in the shop for some TLC. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Dodge corporation made one xxxx of a truck, I believe that if the 2006 last as long as my 97, then this will be my last truck. Nothing better than shifting gears with the windows rolled down, going 60 mph.

I have a 2005 dakota that I purchased new. I love it. 18 years of owning it. I have had very few issues. I use for hauling and recently I have been using it for highway driving. It just works. It's nothing fancy in fact it's kind of utilitarian. But I does everything I need it to do. I do maintain it well. but I have only had minor issues. The fuel mileage is not great but it's a truck.

We have a 2001 Dodge, 2001 Dodge Dakota, 2007 Dodge Dakota & 2008. Dakotas were made good & 2 Run A Long Time! We Had A Friend That had a Dodge That had At least 300,000 the truck is here but he isnt anymore.

This Dodge Dakota with the 4.7 magnum has great towing power but drives and rides like a car. The seats are very firm and comfortable- the rear seats fold up and provide alot of hauling capacity

I've had my 05 dakota 3.7 quad cab for about a year and I have put 16000 miles on it without a problem I have found that it likes the finer fuel in life and premium gas ain't cheap!

I want to give a huge thank you to Jeremy "808" and his boss Kiyoshi at Kendall Ford Vancouver!! Ive had my new truck for a couple weeks now and couldn't be happier! This is my 100% honest review of my experience.. I viewed a 2018 Nissan Frontier that Kendall had advertised online. I sent inquiry, Jeremy responded via text almost immediately. We soon spoke over the phone, I explained my situation of negative equity in my current car and a low fixed income. I really pushed the fact that it has to be the right deal.. right payment, right vehicle or I wouldnt bite. Jeremy assured me that if I would make the trip in, he'd be able to make the deal I needed/wanted. To be honest, I was skeptical.. heard it before just to get the run around or a bad deal. To my very pleasant surprise, "808" did exactly what he promised! Before I arrived he and Kiyoshi had already discussed a few options for me. First option was a really good deal but more then what I needed.. I wanted mid-size crew cab truck. Again, first truck (chevy silverado 4x4 zr1) was beautiful and a great deal but more than I needed. I honestly figured this would be the moment it would all fall down and id leave with no new deal and frustrated.. just the opposite happened! They brought out my dream truck! A beautiful black Nissan Frontier SV! So this would be the point now to get me excited, stick me with a ridiculous price and high payments right?? Wrong again! They swallowed 6k of negative equity on my trade in and still sold me the Frontier for 1k under blue book! The truck also qualified for Kendalls free 6 month power train warranty so no worries that I was getting a great deal on a bad truck.. I absolutely love my truck, I have zero buyers remorse, kept the same payment as my trade in, cleaned up a ton of negative equity and now have a vehicle that will retain its resale value long after I get my use out of it. I've owned my dakota for abou 2 years and considering that at this point it's 15 years old it's held up very well. i've obviously had problems with it, like the exhaust manifold heating up and bending causing an exhaust leak called the hemi tick. It's definitely not fast with the 3.7l v6 but it gets the job done when you need it. it will tow a good amount of stuff as well, just don't expect to have a car hauler 5th wheel. i bought mine as my first truck for 3k and considering how cheap i got it for it really is a beast. the front seats are comfortable and as a tall person (6'5") i fit surprisingly well. the back seats are... restrictive but if you have kids or people willing to have a fight ride it's perfect. the gas mileage is not great, i drive with a lead foot so i get about 9 mpg but the truck is rated for 16/20 so if you drive reasonably it's great. the bed is small at 5'4" but i've taken it camping and have no problems laying in the bed, moving around drywall and other oversized items is a breeze if you strap it down in the bed. maintenance is also incredibly easy as long as you know how to work on a vehicle. the truck looks pretty good too, mine is metallic red pearl coat and it's a stunner, it's got full sized attitude in a midsize truck and considering what it was given, it's pretty good.
