I have loved and owned Chevy and GMC midsized trucks since 98 when I purchased a used S-10. My latest purchase is a 2021 GMC Canyon Denali bought brand new. It's been a great truck until my power steering unit went out due to corrosion. It only has 32,200 miles on it and I have never gotten it wet other than car washes and driving in the rain which is normal conditions. I had purchased a mid grade extended warranty through GMC after my lease was up and purchased the truck. I am being told this is NOT covered due to it being external wiring. So I feel this is a manufacturing malfunction and bad engineering for water to be able to get in to cause such corrosion so beware. This is an open case filed with GM currently to hopefully rectify the matter.

The buying experience was perfect and the salesman Jack was a great opportunity to meet someone new.

GMC Diesel Canyon AT4. I've had this truck for a year-11,000 miles. I love it. The Denali and Elevation trim looked like junk. The AT4 can't compete with the Tacoma off road but, It holds it's own off road. The Diesel pulls like a beast and the exhuast brake, on all the moutain passes I drive, is worth it's wieght in Gold. I trailer the max. capacity regularly and it's smooth sailing. I traded in my 2500HD Silverado with the vortec 6.0 for this big, little truck. Best decision I've made in a while. I had this truck on order for 8 months and Gm never accepted the order. I finally found exactly what I ordered, just off the truck that morning that I called. 1300 miles away, I jumped on a plane to go get it. Crying shame GMC discontinued the diesel. The extra $ per gallon right now is easily washed by the increase in mileage, 32+ higway, 19 trallering almost 8000 #'s. I wouldn't want the truck without it. Wouldn't want the Elevation or Denali. Diesel AT4 is the truck. I'll keep it the rest of my life barring accident. I'm sure I can get 40 years out of this truck doing 10-12k a year. The regeneration of the exhaust has never come up but, I only do a little round town driving. Most of my miles are highway and hauling a load. I've heard horror stories about regen. from city folk, commuters... You get what you aim for. If you've given it a lot of thought and the diesel AT4 seems right for you, you won't be disappointed. Good luck finding one. GM - You've a winner here. don't let it get away. Ps. Cars.com doesn't have a choice of how I use this truck for WORK. I purchased a used vehicle on May 10 of 2025. I actually started the purchase on May 1, but it was for my business and took a little bit longer to secure funding, etc. I work with Frank, who was amazing. He was patient, kept me informed, helped me along in the process, and delivered the vehicle so smoothly. Zach, the finance gentleman, was also amazing. The entire process was smooth and easy, and I would absolutely go back.

This is a great truck. It is peppy and well designed. The electronics take some getting used to. The storage inside the tailgate is brilliant. There appears to be a lack of some desired features in the models. Some things should be in the mid range model and they are not. There is no place to mount any radio equipment for GMRS or HAM and there is a lack of 12 volt power sources, Also there is no 4x4 low range in these. I never had to use it much in other 4x4's but it was present, I am not a fan of the online manuals. If you need to look something up, you better have a laptop with you. 2 things concern me; one is YEARLY oil changes the other is the lack of division between models in operations description of features in the manual. There is also a visible seam in the bed were it is welded during manufacturing, Looks like a three year old did it.

I love my 2022 GMC Canyon Elevation. The V6 engine is great. Good gas mileage, even for the way I drive it! Great comfort and very stylish. All around, just a great truck.

I bought my gmc canyon used with 29,300 miles on the odometer. It has the 2.8 ltr I-4 turbo diesel engine. I'm towing a 5,000 lb travel coach. First thousand miles was today. The small engine gets for me astounding fuel milage. Towing the coach i averaged 22. 8 mpg on a trip to the Eastern Sierras. 368 ft lbs of torque is more than enough to haul the trailer to 10,000 + ft elevation. Just be patient and use the torque to tow up a mountain. The fit and finish is excellent, the blue metallic paint turns heads. After 3 yrs a good waxing had it looking showroom new. This is my first gmc ever. If it holds up and runs 300,000 miles like the sales rep stated it's capable of doing. I'll let you know. The one down side is the emissions on the engine can cause reliability issues. Advice i found on a forum says use a good quality injection cleaner in every fill up . Every fill up for the life of the truck. They are capable 300,000 and higher if we'll cared for.

Pleasant truck buying experience?logical and by the numbers, fair dealing and pricing explanations on target. I left pleased with the feeling that i overpaid or did not exactly what i wanted for the features available.

Bought this truck for my new work truck. Smaller than my old Silverado but looks like it will be just fine. Gets really good gas mileage with the I4 motor.

I purchased my new GMC Canyon Elevation 4x4 Crew Cab a month ago and it's been a pleasure to drive to this point. I think it rides very well for a truck which disagrees with the Cars.com review. It has plenty of power with the V6 and 8-speed transmission for passing. I have yet to tow with it but that's coming next month when I tow a flat bed trailer with 2 ATV's on it. I love the 18" tires and blacked out wheels which gives it a much higher stance than my old 2010 Colorado 4x4. The truck stands very tall for a mid-size model and it gives me a great view of the road behind the wheel. I love the Infotainment system with Sirus XM, Spotify, etc. The soft-lowering tailgate is nice and so is the auto-locking feature. It doesn't have standard features such as lane departure, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, etc. My wife's Subaru Forester came standard with those features whereas the Canyon has them as an add-on option. Not a deal breaker. The lack of decent rubber all-weather floor mats were a disappointment so I had to order them along with splash guards. I'm not sure about the Goodyear Fortitude tires in the winter since the reviews don't rate them well in deep snow. If I have to, I will install 4 snow tires. So far I love the truck and I love the Satin Steel color. It's a major upgrade from my 2010 Colorado 4x4. It's a bit early but I would definitely recommend this truck to a prospective buyer.

I Ordered my 2023 Sierra 2500HD at Barlow and not everything went as smooth as I thought it should. Building and ordering a new HD truck is not something you get to learn by experience. The average buyer just doesn?t do it more than once in a life time. However, After driving the Truck for 2 &1/2 years I couldn?t be happier. What seemed to matter during the experience of ordering, waiting And excepting delivery of the truck quickly became non issues as I am throughly enjoying the truck and using it as originally intended. Jamie who was our salesman has been attentive and and always willing to assist with answering questions and helping us u destined the technical aspects of the truck. I?ve had all of my service done at Barlow and I?m not usually optimistic when dealing with a Dealership service department but the staff and technicians at Barlow have been amazing fair and reasonable. Recently Alison has gone above and beyond in addressing issue I?ve brought to them. Can?t say enough. I?ll admit I only try to keep my expectations low but Barlow service has far exceeded them.

My husband was in dire need of a more reliable vehicle and he really wanted a nice truck. We test drove the Canyon and we both loved how smoothly it drove and I love how quiet it is (especially compared to the truck he had before). We've used the truck to haul all my school items to my new school that would have taken me several trips had we not had his truck. I'm so glad we invested in this truck and I'm looking forward many years of reliable usage and several important and enjoyable road trips.

2019 Canyon Denali. All sorts of bells and whistles, several that I don't really need. Biggest complaint: no memory seats and no Homelink garage opener. Ridiculous. What accountant made that decision?

Our AT4X has been an excellent mid-size truck. The ride is shockingly smooth and the engine has a lot of torque. Wish the interior had less plastic and GM's failure to have a rear view camera mirror or controls for garage/gate contols is inexcusible. Overall, could not be more pleased with this truck.

Did a ton of research on mid-sized trucks and targetted this one. Bought a creampuff with 37000 km on AT4 Long Box with all-leather seats. Replaced the headlights with Firehawk LEDs as the original halogens were way too dim. Love the power from the v6, and fuel consumption is 12l/100km...not bad. Love the ride and the fully adjustable front seats. Bose sound system is excellent, and the vehicle handles and brakes very well. No complaints at all on loom and feel, and really like the AWD+4x4 drive. I have owned many Subarus and the drive traction is easily comparable. I will be adding a K&N cold air intake and new exhaust to up the torque a bit for better trailering.

We had a 2017 Ram that pulled our 5th wheel with ease. We sold the 5th wheel and decided we didn’t need the Ram but we had a hard time wanting to get rid of it because of the power and comfort. My husband did a lot of research and decided the GMC Canyon Denali diesel was worth taking a look at. We found one at Liberty GMC in Phoenix and took a test drive, we were in love! We recently purchased a 2003 Ford Thunderbird from Highline Motor Cars. Ali was our salesperson and he was very helpful. Have a 19 4x4 SLT Short Box. Lifted 4" w/ 20" rims and decent all purpose tires. With the relatively short wheelbase and the slight lift, I've never had a 4WD that handles everything so easily, including the worst mountain trails. Have owned for 3 years now and have not had any problem other than a dead battery. The interior is average, but in a utility/4WD that gets mud, dog fur and camping fallout, who cares. My prior SUV was an 04 Avalanche 4x4. Cool truck but bad gas mileage and impossible to park in tight city lots. The Canyon is perfect size, easy to handle and with a couple minor mods pushes 350 hp.

I bought this truck new 8 years ago (and 77k miles). I use this truck for truck things like towing a 5,200lb trailer @8 times a year. The V6 has plenty of power and gets good mileage (22 mpg combined, 29 highway empty, 15 pulling the trailer). Reliability has been outstanding. The transmission needs a full flush about every 40k to keep it shifting smoothly. Other than that this truck has been without issue.

Had my 2024 Canyon for exactly one year. Not a single real issue once over the air update was done and that only affected the radio. It was an AT4 in desert sand metallic. I traded it for a 2025 Acadia, as I missed life in an SUV. However if you want a truck, I’d highly recommend it and specifically the AT4 model. It’s got meaty tires for pothole protection, it’s able to tow more than you can imagine, it looks super amazing and you’ll have lots of thumbs up and positive comments when you get gas, etc. updated tech was more than you could ask for. 4WD auto mode worked flawlessly. Engine had a nice little growl that I miss too. Let me say if you are a truck person or want to be a truck person, it’s a perfect mid size truck. Mine was 100% and am missing it yes but love the Acadia because it’s also a great vehicle. Got the AT4 Acadia and for my situation it’s perfect.

Missing a few things that could really make it better. Homelink for garage door isn’t offered? Doesn’t come with a receiver type hitch however what does comes with it is almost the same amount of steel. The phone charger doesn’t work quite right and they know it.

With a 5.3 L 4x4, Z71 and tow package has been an excellent truck. Options include a locker deferential. Used to tow a 21' Camper and does a good job of handling the tow. Milage while towing is only 11 MPG (expected with a V8 and a 4.10 rear axle) now with 125,000 miles. Like the torsion bar Front suspension, quiet smooth highway traveling. Moves VERY well in traffic. Does have a large turning radial for a small pick-up. I have used the truck to pull Compact Tractors and other items out of tough spots with ease. (4x4 low setting) No transmission issues, Truck serviced at regular intervals, all fluid gear train lubricant and coolant changes. 4 speed transmission fluid at 30,000 mile and engine oil at 5,000 mile intervals. Engine has had no issues, runs and idles smoothly.
