GMC 2012 Canyon Holds Up Well
I bought this truck new, mfg Mar 2012. It was still on the dealer lot Feb 2013, only 50 miles on it. A few minor repairs, had to replace the in dash entertainment unit due to burnt out bulbs, also having burnt out dash bulbs, headlight switch, drivers door switch panel / cluster. A few minor bugs during the first 30,000 but under warranty so not a cost issue. The " soft brake pedal " issue was resolved very early on by having the dealer replace the master cylinder. The only real problem is the " Passlock " security issue, once in a great while the truck will not start, somehow " it thinks " it has been tampered with / broken into, the small red car / lock dash light will be on, the indicator is on the right / bottom of the speed indicator. If you turn the key on, then off and wait 10 minuets then it starts fine, this has happened even while parked in the garage overnight, so I know for sure the vehicle has not been tampered with. This is a known GMC defect if you search on the internet and a forced recall should be done about it. The truck has a very nice and smooth ride, the 5 cylinder has plenty of power, highways and mountain roads are no issues at all, when I did replace the tires I purchased a premium 80,000 mile for a better and smooth ride, I still have the original shocks on it I now have 150000 miles on it, I follow the maintenance suggestions closely, well taken care of, I always get looks and complements where ever I go. The dealer I purchased from sucks ( Earnhart ) so I have to use another GMC dealer, and GM / GMC corporate was no help either, customer support sucks. Overall if you have one of these older Canyons or Colorados and you drive it normally and follow the maintenance you should get a long life from it, I use a premium oil and filter, change the air filter every 10,000 and keep up with the other fluids, I still have the original brakes on it, using a good / high cost premium wax every year and a light touch up every six months has kept it looking like new. The new and overhauled 2015 models seem nice, I may look at those if I ever need to replace this one.

Great truck
184,000 and still runs like new! I bought this truck in 2008 with 30,000 miles on it. So far I replaced the rear end (towed alot) and alternator. They were the only two major things the rest has been just wear and tear.

Unexpectedly Surprised!
Unexpectedly Surprised! Jim, aka Turk, the 2nd generation owner of Diamond Jim’s is a 10 out of 10 and if the scale was out of 100, he would be a 100 out 100. Here’s my story: I have had over 35 Corvettes and had been looking for a 2015 Corvette - Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic - convertible - 7 speed manual for 18 months and finally found one and it was at Diamond Jim’s in Milwaukee, WI. I called and spoke with Jim and he suggested that we FaceTime and we did for it a good 20 minutes. Car was great except the tires were a little worn … not a problem … I put a deposit down and scheduled a flight from Southwest Florida to Milwaukee with the plans of driving it back 1,430 miles! 🤪 I have never flown cross country to buy a car before so I was a little nervous to say the least. We arrived at Diamond Jim’s and met Jim … the car was everything he said it was and better (fair price too)! This is when things turned to the unbelievable and quiet frankly, shocking … Jim said he felt uneasy selling me the Corvette with the slightly worn tires so he replaced them with brand new OEM exact factory replacement Michelin tires!! I have another, identical Corvette and recently replaced the tires on that one for a whopping $2,000!! 🫣 Jim apologized for not giving me a full tank of gas (it was 1/2 full) … I said, “Let me see, a full tank of gas or $2,000 worth new tires!!” He laughed and said the construction in front of his dealership prevented him from filling up the tank! He’s a true gentleman. Then, to add to this amazing person that I just met, Jim called us about 2 hours later during our drive home making sure that we were doing OK!! Lastly, we plan on buying another car within the next year and there is no doubt that we will call Jim, take his word for the description of the car, pay for it and ship it to Florida … we drove the 1,430 miles in 28 hours and we don’t plan on doing it again! 😁 I have been buying cars since the late 1970’s and I have never had a better experience than I did with Jim at Diamond Jim’s and I give them the highest recommendation possible!! 👍

Our dealer, Ryan Schreiber, was a blessing! After searching for the right vehicle, which we finally found at Evansville Ford, Ryan was extremely helpful; our test drive was enjoyable; and he gave us the best deal possible! And since our purchase was a used vehicle, he made sure the detailing inside was top notch! Thank you Ryan!! And we'll definitely share our experience with many! 🥰

Very Happy
Very pleased! We test drove several cars before making an offer on a 2005 Chevy Malibu. Matt was willing to deal and we got the car within our budget. Great experience! Well run, family owned business.
2005 Colorado problems
I've owned a 2005 Colorado for 17 yrs, got it with 33k on it & now have 340k on it. It now has a antifreeze leak in cyl2 & 5. The airbag light has been on for the last 100k. The dash light dimmer has been a problem for the last 100k. I've replaced the rotors once & the front hubs 3 times. There's a short in the dash that happens whenever if feels like. I just thump the dash & that clears it up for a couple months, sometimes. The wiper control now fails me 50% of the time. The tail gate handle has fallen apart, the heater control module failed once. The drivers side power window won't work without some physical help going up & down. I replaced the rear drums & brakes at 200k. Replaced the front brakes 5 times now. I also replaced the water pump at 280k. I'm also on my 3rd set of tires & they look pretty good still. I certainly had my share of problems with this truck but I once owned a Ford f150 & found it to be the worst truck I ever own compared to my chevy. So would I ever buy another one? xxxx yes, in fact I just found a 2005 canyon crew with low kms & I'm looking forward to picking it up shortly into the new yr. Now you might ask why the xxxx would i want another one after going through all the troubles I've experienced. Well simply put I know what to expect with these trucks & how to fix them. It doesn't matter what brand you want to be loyal to its more about what your prepared to tolerate & deal with when problems arise. Really for the most part there all junk & they all have there own problems, you just have to decide which one you're willing to deal with.

Ed was very helpful and the process purchasing the truck was quick and painless. I’m glad I drove from Columbus to purchase he truck. Ed also held the truck when I said I was on my way.
2012 GMC Canyon inline 5
Well I bought a 1year old 2012 4 door with the inline 5 it had just about 16k on the dash when I took it home and this truck has been worth every penny that I spent in it . I've had No major issues with it other than I had to put a water pump on it and basic maintenance. It's a smaller truck, but I can put my whole family in it with all of my grandsons toys and his car seat and we all are comfy. The truck cleans up really nice and I still get occasional compliments on how nice it Looks So if your looking for a smaller truck with a smaller price tag then give the ol' Canyon a shot.

I can't say enough good things about this dealership!
I can't say enough good things about this dealership! Sullivan's is family owned and operated and it shows. This is the forth car we have purchased from them. They are extremely fair and always take good care of us. They stand behind their cars and I am so grateful to have a place to go that I can trust.

Had a oil change and tire rotation on my Toyota truck and the service I received was outstanding. The service department kept me informed on what was going on and asked before doing anything extra. Truck was clean inside and out when handed back to me. I would highly recommend DeeryBrothers service department and appreciate the great service I received.
More options for my money...
Bought a Canyon 4WD Crew-Cab SLT model fully loaded with the Z71 off road package and the 5.3L V-8 engine in Red; it was a difficult truck to locate, at the time there were only 3 new ones for sale in the state with the V8 engine. I looked at and drove all the other mid-sized trucks in the Canyon?s class, I was close to buying a new Tacoma, but felt the 4.0L V-6 didn?t have tow ability and power of the 4.3L Vortec in the S-10 I was driving at the time (even though the Tacoma had more HP). I ended up getting the fully loaded new Canyon at a lower price then what I would have gotten the new Tacoma without leather, sun roof, power seats and a 5.3L V-8 engine. Three months after buying the Canyon, I loaded it up with 5 adults and bed packed high with bikes, clothing, coolers and everything else then drove my family to a California beach vacation?the V-8 Canyon moved my family and all our stuff along without even the slightest complaint and looked good doing so. This is something that the Tacoma wouldn?t have been able to do without a struggle?period. My wife and I have cabin up in the mountains and we like to go up there and ski in the winters; the cabin is off an un-paved road in the woods and I have had to use snow chains (and a little bit prayer) with my pervious vehicles to get in and out of there. So I opted for the 4WD with the locking rear differential (SLT model). I?ve been up to the cabin more times in the past 2 years, than I had in the previous 4 years combined. Now, I have (just about) no fear in get stuck at any point of my trip with the Canyon?s 4WD system. It works very well, and I have not experienced any issues with it. I wish GM had a manual transmission as an option with the Crew Cab V-8 model, but only the automatic is offered. I like the (leather) interior, but I find the basic fabric that is available in the Canyon?s a little cheap compared to that in the Toyota?s. Outside of that, I find the Canyon?s interior comparable to the Tacoma?s without the ?gaudy? look that seems to be abundant in the Toyota. I like the seating in the Canyon much more then the Tacoma where if in the front seats, it feels as though you are sitting on floor; while the Canyon has more a ?truck? height seating. As for the exterior of the Canyon, I like the basic lines of the truck more than the Tacoma (which to me look like those of a Dodge), but the basic 2WD Canyon can look pretty boring when compared to some of the 2WD models of the Tacoma. Compare the 4WD Canyon with Z71 off-road package to the 4WD Tacoma with the off-road package and the Canyon looks much bolder and different looking. If I were looking for something in between, I would surely consider or opt for the Tacoma; but if I wanted a truck that could do just about everything a full sized truck could do only in a smaller mid-sized package, the Canyon V-8 model is an easy choice. If you are looking for truck to go to and from work, occasionally haul a big TV or dirt bike in, has good power for around town and light off road driving, that has a sporty off-road look and you are willing to pay a little more?then the Tacoma is probably the truck for you.
