Out-of-state buyer hunting online for a good deal, found what I needed at VW of Salem. First, the price was a deal. Second, the buying process was mostly painless... Communication with sales was easy by email, text, and a few phone calls. Most of the difficulty was actually on my bank's end. No weird pressure or vibes from sales when I told them I had financing already lined up. Once everything was lined up, they picked me up from Portland airport and took the vehicle for a test drive, then quickly finished up the purchase. Only delay was apparently one detailer working so getting that final complimentary carwash took a while. Will consider buying from them again when it's time to replace the wife's car!

This car is easy to drive, beautiful color, good on gas, handles well on cornering. Nice price and great tires too. This is my 3rd mini, so I love them!

He made us fair offers, both for my trade and for the purchase price of my new vehicle. The process was quick, and the level of customer service was on par with that which one would expect from a luxury car dealership. I haven't owned a 4 cylinder in a long time. I had a turbo 5 Volvo, a 6 cylinder accord, and a Mercedes c300 6 as my last three cars, then before that I owned a last model year RSX (2006, I wouldn't count the new ones) for a long time so that's the closest comparison to this. I think the RSX felt a bit more sporty (I didn't have the Type S), but as for power they're a pretty close match, and I bet the Mazda 3 would smoke it off the line with it's torque heavy engine. I think the RSX looked more sporty too, it had probably a more mature styling to it that I appreciate now even more than I did when I owned one, but I will say every time I look at my Mazda 3 I like it more and more. I've seen a thousand of these on the road and never had a strong opinion on them, but my girl in red keeps growing on me, and when I take the dog out for walks I circle the car and look it over and understand it more and more. I have a 2018 fully loaded GT, and the interior is mostly it's strongest positive. The facelifted w204 is easily the nicest looking interior I've ever been in, and the accord maybe the most comfortable, but this is incredibly close to the accord in terms of comfort and only lacking in slightly worse seats and less room. The seats are great though, but the 2012 accords were some of the best I've say in. The fake leather has a great balance of firm and give to it, and what's even better is the whole interior is wrapped in a similar nice synthetic material that's a joy to be wrapped in. I've never owned a car where my arms are supported on both sides in such a comfortable manner. I'm 6'1 so I keep my seat low but I feel like I have a good deal of room, in fact, I test drove a 2023 (gen 4) Mazda 3 that was an incredible price, about $800 off from my 2018 and even less miles but the new interior design is nowhere close to as good as what we get in the gen 3. You have almost no room to spread your legs out in the newer models and that's a deal breaker for me. The one major weakness of the 2018's interior is the tablet on top of the dash looks hideous. I think I mentioned earlier my model is fully loaded, and I mean it. But what's that mean, a premium sound system, some exterior trim pieces tacked on? Nope, here we have some genuinely cool features. Adaptive headlights that turn with the wheel, a heads up display that's projected on a piece of clear plastic that raises up when you start the engine and can show speed, road signs, blind spot info, next GPS heading, etc. We have automatic windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, a great Bose sound system, paddle shifters. My car has more bells and whistles than my wife's high trim 2023 Tuscon. I really love my little Mazda, and I'm hoping to take it down some back roads to see if I can enjoy the driving part as much as some others do, as I've mostly spent time on the highway or in stop and go so far. This was a purchase I was unsure of 3 days ago when I made it, but every couple waking hours something pulls me to that car, whether to drive it or just to sit in it. I know now I've made a great choice.

Purchased a 2021 sedan premium plus turbo AWD in 2022 with 11,000 miles. THE BAD: At 17,000 miles I discovered the front end would wobble when I applied the brakes. I was told by the dealer that I needed front and rear rotors and that the cost would be $1,000. When I asked why I needed brakes at only 17K miles I was told it was because the rotors must have gotten wet when I drove through a puddle when they were hot. Really? He obviously thought I was an idiot. It ended up costing me $600 to have a local shop do the work including an upgrade on the quality of the original factory rotors and pads. At 29,000 miles the car left me stranded in a parking lot when the battery died. A replacement battery cost me $280. At 30,000 miles the original manufacturer tires were badly worn and needed to be replaced (and yes I rotate them in fact EVERY oil change as opposed to every other). I purchased 4 Michelin tires which cost me $1,200. Also at 30K miles a rock came up from the road and cracked my windshield causing me to spend my deductible to have it fixed ($500). Nobody's fault I understand, just one more expense with so few miles.I have also noticed that I often get a "safety and driver support systems temporarily disabled" notice. It seems to be random but is annoying nonetheless. Shouldn't be happening at 32K miles. At 29K miles I apparently hit a pothole and the front rim was badly bent. The cost to straighten the rim was $140. The lane departure safety feature is annoying. Every time I even begin to leave my lane it violently pulls me back. Even when I need to go around an object in the road it pulls me back. Also, the tone associated with lane departure only works when it fells like it which is probably a good thing. Another issue is that it takes forever for the interior to get warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The car needs to warm up for at least 15 minutes before the temperature gets where I need it to be. The problem with that is that when using the remote start through the Mazda App, it only allows the car to run for 10 minutes. Also, you can't make any adjustments to the temperature from the app. ... THE GOOD: This vehicle is a blast to drive! It sounds great and it has plenty of power and I am still in love with the exterior appearence. The interior is done so well and as YouTube car reviewers say, "it's a great place to be". It has every option I would every want except for wireless Apple car play. It handles great and the AWD seems to work really well in slippery conditions. Currently I am at a crossroads. Do I sell my Mazda3 while the value is still high and get something else or do I keep it and hope nothing else goes wrong? I really like the car but I want to love it. One issue is the fact that when I purchased it I got 2.9% financing. I would be lucky to get 6.9% with todays rates. Also, if I sold it what the xxxx would I buy that has all of these features, a turbo engine and AWD that wouldn't cost me $35-$45K?!

The car I wanted sold 15 minutes before I got there. However this dealership went above and beyond. They had two other similar cars pulled out and waiting for me when I arrived. They also called me when another couple started to look at the car I had made an appointment to test drive, giving me the opportunity to save myself the drive. The staff was very helpful and professional. If they hadn't sold the one I wanted, I would have enjoyed giving them my business. Everything was clean. Staff was very knowledgeable.

A blast to drive! Brakes are very responsive, quick at lane changes. The car feels on rails at high speed on tight curves. Very happy with the performance of the car. Very decent gas mileage on long trips. I recently did a 680 mile trip and my average was 29.8 mph

GTI's do almost everything well. Economy, performance, flexibility, holds value, road car, back roads car, safety, comfort, feature-laden and now almost $10K less than the price of the average new vehicle. Two minor flaws IMO. All GTI's should have Golf R climate controls. Standard controls too confusing and fussy. Rather set it and forgot it. DSG is "still funky after all these years." Don't get me wrong, the lightning quick shifts and in-traffic ease are compelling, but DSGs can be clunky and feel strange at low speed and can't yet read all of your intentions correctly, thus some odd decisions/shifts on occasion. Not a fault, just a thing. Otherwise brilliant. GTI is among the contenders for "best" mass-produced combustion engine car of all time. Yes, that good. If shopping the used market, I would strongly suggest one try to get a Performance Package car. Much better brakes that won't need brake service as often and stop better. Also, the electronically controlled differential aids both traction and handling.

Great experience with Honda of Salem. We are from the Seattle area. We set out on a out of town trip in our new Honda CRV. We were close to the Portland area when we lost connection with Apple Car Play. We pulled into Honda of Salem unannounced with no appointment. A couple guys from the service department tried to get it up and running but they were unsuccessful. They finally said they were going to get the software expert to look at it. They summoned Mr Philip Pham from the Sales/internet department. Within 30 minutes he had everything reset and working like new. He also explained some of the systems & how they worked on our new car. Actually he explained things far better than our experience up in Seattle. 2014 Elantra GT Manual 6 speed. 142k km. Only regular oil changes. No issues. Just changed "clutch kit" because clutch was not working at all sometimes, & slipping sometimes... turned out it was a broken spring on clutch plate. I am very happy with car. But I never had a clutch problem in my Life. I've had a standard Honda for 20 years, never a clutch problem. Cost was ~$1000 for new "clutch kit" replacement. Reasonable expense after 10 years. Overall, I am happy with 2nd hand purchase 8 years ago. Thanks.

Ride could be a bit smoother, I has a pretty exterior good for city and good on the highway could have bit more power is 5th and 6th (they are a bit gutless). It has been reliable and cheap to maintain the tires are cheap for a car. great ABS and the grip in the winter and despite the fairly low clearance front wheel drive it can actually go though a foot of snow with a decent driver.

This is my second Prius. I am bullish on Toyota autos. The stereo system is awesome. I purchased this vehicle to obtain great fuel mileage. This model year's Prius generates better fuel economy than the 2007 model I previously owned. The safety features prevent accidents due to unavoidable blind spots when viewing oncoming traffic thru the side-view mirrors. Pitfalls: less rear trunk storage space than the 2007 model. The center console box has less volume. I demanded a donut spare tire when I purchased this model. Not all models have donut spare tires. I do not think this is a auto to have in a cold climate state - - yearly issue of snow/ice and below freezing temps.

Keep in mind this rating is for a small gas fuel efficient economy car, it's way more than expected and for 2 years has not diminished my opinion at all. Good reliable car. Here in New England I have seen models from 2013 and newer still driven all over and even the prior avio models on the road too. BSic maintenance keeps them together. It is a good car!

Had a fun experience with getting my car. Brian our salesman helped from the beginning to the end. With everything I wanted in my car. And he took the time to explain all the bells and whistles this car had. ( there were ALOT!)

I test-drove the Tesla Y and the BMW i4. Both had great acceleration and many desirable features. However, the BMW felt more luxurious, higher in overall quality, and newer in design. I have been driving the BMW i4 eDrive 40 for about two weeks. Because I am new to EVs, it took me a while to learn the many features. The dealer process took several hours to explain things and I returned briefly several times to request further explanation on specific points. Owners should be conversant with cell phones and computers to use the features. I am still waiting for the QMerit Level Two Charger to be installed but regular 110 Volt house current has been adequate to recharge the car after a normal commute. The car is actually a hatchback, with the trunk being capable of lifting high. The rear seats fold down, so the trunk is quite voluminous. I didn't like the vertical grills at first but they are growing on me and I consider the car beautiful inside and out. It is a pleasure to drive. I am already wedded to electric cars and doubt I'll ever get another ICE car.

Bought the car from a private sale with over 200k km on it. Been pretty reliable for the most part with a few problems here and there (starter went back in November but was relatively cheap to fix) other then that the intake manifold needs to be replaced. Expect issues to arise down the line of owning this car (carbon buildup, timing chain tensioner, fuel pump, cam followers etc) but aslong as you keep up with maintenance and care for the car I don’t doubt it will the car will bring you anywhere without any issues. Our 2015 2.4L Soul has been great. My wife works a split shift, so she commutes to and from work Twice a day. So it gets a lot of highway miles. We also have gone cross country a few times. Always serviced at the dealer (which is more expensive), But it kept the warranty alive. Engine needed replaced at 95K due to oil consumption, but warranty covered it. Now at 220K AC compressor died. But that is the 1st repair we have had to do. Everything else is holding up fine.

Its been more reliable than anything I’ve owned so far . Not very comfortable at times ! the steering wheels a little cold in the winter but its not the luxury model . The manual transmisions smooth shifting is perfect 5 speed to get you down the road!

I was initially looking for a used Golf, but the more I looked at the Beetle the more I liked it. When I found the one I ended up buying, it was love at first drive. This little car packs a punch with the 2.0T, and will throw you back in your seat. It’s an absolute blast to drive. Handles well around town and on the interstate, where it could easily get one in trouble since it wants to GO. The same engine as is found in the GTI, so this should be unsurprising. Easily gets 30+mpg on the highway when cruising along, typically around 20-25 city. These cars handle city driving just fine, but they are meant for the freeway in my opinion. I find the interior to be quite luxurious. Heated leather seats (not available in the Golf) with plenty of storage compartments. Not many frills, just a sleek and mostly practical dash. The trunk is big enough for grocery runs, and the rear seats fold forward for larger loads. It’s not going to haul large appliances or furniture, although it could possibly carry some bigger stuff on a roof rack. The Fender audio system is impressive, wouldn’t change a thing about it except it could benefit from an updated head unit with CarPlay. This hasn’t been an issue for me. I think the car is a real looker, it turns heads and has drawn the occasional compliment. My used model had some imperfections, but it’s still a great looking car that I want to look after and keep for as long as I can. It feels well built, the doors close with the satisfying weighty thud of a premium vehicle. Overall, I am very happy with my 2013 beetle. It’s not only fun, but it seems to be reliable with a couple caveats that some owners might not be aware of. The 2.0T engine is designed for premium fuel, using regular will eventually damage it. The 2.5 can run regular, but I believe the 1.8T will also want premium. The reason for this is lower octane fuel will cause detonation in these high compression engines. If you don’t know what detonation is, just know it’s bad. The oil needs changed more regularly than the manufacturer recommended 10k miles. 5k to be safe, 7k at a stretch. This is especially true for higher mileage vehicles. Speaking of stretch, there is a known issue with some 2.0T engines where the timing chain stretches over time and many miles, so if buying used that’s something I’d have a mechanic check out. This is an expensive maintenance item, but IF it’s needed, getting it done along with the tensioner and a new water pump for good measure will ensure that the new to you Beetle is reliable for many years and miles to come. The other issue is carbon build up. Getting it cleaned out is not as spendy as the timing chain but it’s also not a cheap fix. I believe this can largely be avoided by using top tier fuel (it contains detergents that help with this) as well as regular oil changes and some regular spirited driving. Would not recommend this car to someone who mainly does town or city driving, the 2.5 engine might be better suited for that. According to my research, the 2.5 is quite bulletproof BUT it’s not good for any engine to be driven at low RPM all the time.
