Well just got to 190K miles with minimal trouble. Hit two deer and had repairs other than that just tires, oil, a couple lights was the maintenance. Mine is a 4 cylinder but has been up to 123 mph. Impressive power for a 4 banger I hate to think of giving it up.

In late 2015 I ordered and bought a 2016 Hyundai accent. I was looking for a car under $20,000 CAD that would suit my purposes and that would be safe enough for my teenaged kids to learn and drive. The dealer experience was not what I would call a positive one. As this is about the car I will not go into detail here. The look of the little 2016 accent hatchback is really a 8/10. Put on some cheap fun stripes and you’ll be getting second looks; 9/10 then. Other body styles for the Accent are well…meh. Now the car itself is cheap to buy, and built cheaply. There is no doubt about that. There is an awful lot of road noise, there is usually some body part rattle, the torque is laughable, but again—it is cheap. I call this a Meccano car. Why? Because replacing parts is as easy as a Meccano set. And you WILL need to learn how to do this. This car gets no respect in parking lots; it’s constantly being dinged and hit by other cars. It has low clearance; road debris doesn’t go under the car— it cracks up all the plastic bits. Oh yeah, and the four or so fibre skid plates? Two disappeared within the first six months. One ripped off in a puddle during a rainstorm. However, because there’s so much plastic, and parts are easily available due to the car’s ubiquity, it’s fairly cheap to fix. This car can be insanely efficient. If you’re hypermiling, you can achieve 5.2 L per 100 km. I drive aggressively and get 6.2 or so. In town aggressive, will get you 7.4. My battery lasted six years before replacement. No complaints there. I take care of my car. I do most regular services on time. It’s been parked outside in Canadian prairie weather it’s entire life. It starts at -35C without the block heater plugged in. It’s insanely reliable and is just now displaying the first signs of rust from our heavily salted winter roads. Speaking of which– this thing is so light that you absolutely NEED winter tires up here, even if it is a front wheel drive or isn’t the law. While I would probably never buy a car like this used with 100000 km or more, I have been pretty happy with this thing. I like it better than my past Fords, Nissan, my four Chryslers, and even my Audi (based on price vs reliability). It was a good buy. I knew I was getting a cheap, disposable car. What impressed me was there was no hard sell. I didn't have someone following me around unless I had questions to try to sell me something I didn't want. In addition buying from a faith based car dealership was very impressive. So nice to see there are still companies that aren't there to see how much they can get for the almighty buck. So much so that we are looking for another car to purchase

My car was brought in from a dealership an hour away. During my test drive the airbag light was on. Not one of the tires was the same brand. Didn?t know that was allowed. They compromised with splitting the cost of just 1 new tire. It?s been 5 days and the airbag switch still hasn?t been replaced. (They?re wrking on it). I?d like my new car soon. They cashed my check. However, the manager has been terrific.

the 2012 Hyundai Sonata is a smooth comfortable car with a potential flaw that Hyundai has, in my opinion, addressed adequately. First the Pros: It is stylish in both the interior as well as exterior design. It is comfortable, even for me at 6'3" and is not tiring for extended periods on the highway. The fuel economy is good averaging for me about 32 MPG with mostly highway driving. The engine has reasonable power when needed and is generally smooth. The cons are that the 4-cylinder Theta-II engine that the Sonata Uses, (as well as the Santa Fe and Kia Optima and Sorento) has a known flaw that causes the #4 cylinder connecting rod bearing to wear out prematurely causing engine failure. Hyundai has recently extended the Engine Warranty to a lifetime warranty on these engines and that includes if you bought the car used. I think this is a reasonable response. My Sonata suffered this exact failure 5 months ago at 164,000 miles and the engine was replaced with no pushback. The car carried an original 100K mile warranty which is still considered industry leading so, legally, any car over 100K miles Hyundai and Kia could have stuck to their original warranty agreement and taken no action. But that is not what they are doing. One of the reasons I gave Korean cars a try several years ago was the lack of response I got on a Japanese brand known for their high quality that also had a known failure point but took no action after the warranty expired. Because of Hyundai's ultimate response I still highly recommend the car. if you have a higher mileage Sonata, my advice would be sure you have some sort of roadside assistance, so in case you experience this same failure, you will not be left stranded. The good news is that in the rare instance you experience this issue, you should receive a new engine.

The car met the needs of my wife for a mid to small vehicle. Plenty of room, good storage, easy to drive and goes in the garage easy.

This is on a 2004 Sonota that has 191,000 miles. I bought it new and it has never been back to the dealership for a warranty issue. It has 2.7 v-6 and doesn’t use any oil between oil changes. This by far has been the best car I have ever owned. Good gas mileage, I’m 6’3” and has plenty of leg room. Yes I would buy another.

I love my hyundai elantra gls, got her at 113k , its at 187k currently and always reliable , fun to drive and I do all my own maintenance work! The only thing I can't stand is the cloth beige seats stain with rain or water only! Hard to get the perfect clean seats It's annoying so seat covers fixed that! I love this car I may buy another same year with lower miles!!

2014 Elantra GT Manual 6 speed. 142k km. Only regular oil changes. No issues. Just changed "clutch kit" because clutch was not working at all sometimes, & slipping sometimes... turned out it was a broken spring on clutch plate. I am very happy with car. But I never had a clutch problem in my Life. I've had a standard Honda for 20 years, never a clutch problem. Cost was ~$1000 for new "clutch kit" replacement. Reasonable expense after 10 years. Overall, I am happy with 2nd hand purchase 8 years ago. Thanks.

2008 4CYL SONATA195K MILES ON IT TODAY - BOUGHT IN 2015 FOR 8K /73K MILES NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS YEAR -AC COMPRESSOR-NOT BAD FOR A 700$ REPAIR 17 YRS LATER ! THE PAINT JOB LEAVES A LITTLE BIT TO DESIRED-SLOWLY REMOVING ITSELF EACH YEAR. DRIVE 1000MILES PER MOTH LOVE LOVE THIS 2008 MODEL -I WOULD BUY THE SONATAS FROM 2008-2010 AFTER THIS. GREAT RIDE.
