I never thought I'd own a Jeep in my lifetime, then five years ago I bought a used 2014 Jeep Patriot and was amazed by its fuel economy and reliability for a mid-size SUV. Then three months ago my sister needed a car, and I passed the Patriot along to her, so I began doing research to buy another used car for myself and found the 2014 Jeep Compass. Now I'm the proud owner of not one but two Jeeps! I fell in love with it because of its looks as it is "less boxy" than the Patriot and the interior is basically a replica of a car I'm already used to driving. Find it a little bit roomier than the Patriot, love the top of the gate spoiler and the headlights design as well as the focused (foglights?). I can carry a ton of stuff in the back specially since I added the retractable cargo cover for privacy and safety. I definitely recommend this crossover SUV, it delivers a ton for its value. Definitely money well invested.

Now have 110,000 miles on vehicle and had to pay out 1800 on some mechanical parts. For the most part my 2014 Jeep Patriot has been pretty good. Great in snow.

I actually love it! I bought it second hand and it runs really well. The car is well isolated, the AC works great. It is very comfy and the gas is not running low as fast as I was expecting to (based on online reviews). So, I am actually positively surprised. It looks great with a retro flair, provides good visibility which speaks for a good design. All in all, for the current price market is a good deal. A straightforward and simple car that works great.

I bought mine used..Love it, but sad to hear the model has been discontinued..Mine is pretty basic...not many extras to break...decent gas mileage, running great on E15, too.

After years of wanting one of these under rated machines I finally got my hands on one earlier this year. Ever since I was about 9 or 10 it has been my dream car (and yes I'm serious it is my dream car). I found it on FB Marketplace for just $2,000 and had to snatch it up. It is the Limited with the 4.0L so the best of both worlds and I LOVE it. It had just a hair over 140,000 miles when I bought it so I knew it still has tons of life left in it. I don't even have to speak on the engine because we all know how solid they are. Mine is also probably my favorite color in one of these models, Patriot Blue Metallic with black leather and every luxury option except for the adjustable pedals. It also has the Chrysler 300 style white gages which is one of my favorite parts. The ride quality is unmatched with the soft suspension and plush leather. Also pretty powerful for it not being the trashy 4.7 V8. Just like every vehicle it does have its cons. I would have gave it 5 stars had it not been a Chrysler product because they do have their fair share of electrical issues. I was fortunate and only have 2 issues though, being the back passenger window doesn't roll down and I have a bad connection on the blinker relay so the left signal only works until you hit a big bump and jar the fuse a tiny bit out of place. My only other issue is the hideous stock 16 spoke rims that come with the 2003-2004 Limited models. However I would definitely recommend for a first time driver or back yard mechanic because the Inline 6 has tons of room under the hood therefore are almost too easy to work on. Pretty much anyone can adapt with these vehicles though, from moms with big families to off road enthusiasts. These Jeeps are almost perfect for everyone. They are fairly easy on gas as well for being an SUV. You can average 18 City and around 26 Highway if you're easy on the throttle and you aren't drag racing it. For these WJ's being 20 years old now I can appreciate how modern and nice they still look inside and out. You can't beat the price either for such a capable, adaptable vehicle. Unless you find a rare one that's basically brand new you're only looking at spending around $2,000 to $3,000 to get your hands on one, you really can't beat it. So if you're looking for a good vehicle with endless purposes, go out and get you a '99-'04 Grand Cherokee. You won't regret it!

We are still sadly Victimized by the Dealership . The extent of falsehoods and misrepresentations continue to be revealed . The DELIBERATE DAMAGE and Costly Manipulation are appalling to me . I ordered the 2002 Jeep Liberty KJ Limited from Jeep in Aug. of 01 after test driving a sport 01 model at the dealer with the wife. We loved it from the start. The Liberty felt higher quality to us over the Cherokee we traded that was a 92 year model and the brakes were certainly worlds better than the Cherokee. The KJ was also a lot less noise inside and seemed of a higher quality build to us. We took delivery of our 02 in Oct of 2001 and have had it ever since. 22 years later we still love it and I do not see us getting rid ot it anytime soon when it has been a flawless rig. Just a couple recalls promptly repaired at the dealer is all we had to deal with really. Regular oil changes, flushing of the fluids at the suggested intervals, and only a couple of the windows falling down into the door immediately after buying it which were covered under warranty that first week I've read all the negative reviews of this rig and this year model. It has not been our experience at all to have issues other than regular expected things like stated. Off road it is surprisingly good. So, the only real surprise is that the Jeep KJ likes as much gas as my V8 vehicles did. However with that said I personally feel that anyone buying a Jeep that is concerned with MPG is looking at the wrong vehicle to begin with. What we got in return is a vehicle that will flat out zip around town and turns, stops and parks on a dime! Don't kid yourself. The KJ can impress even on a goat trail. On the beach when other 'Real Jeeps' got stuck we drove circles around them and pulled out. The only draw back is the wheels can lift up off the ground twisting it over big rocks for rock crawling but that is the sacrifice you make with independent front ends. What you don't get is a death wobble so drive it and be happy about it. We do!

I've had my Patriot for about 3 yrs now. I purchased with 82K on it and am up to 98K. The CVT took a bit to get used to as far as being not very quick when accelerating. I'm used to it now and it keeps me from having a lead foot...lol. Otherwise I've had no major problems and it serves it's purpose and is good in the snow.

The 2014 Compass fulfills its basic duty as A Car. It gets you from point A to B without putting up much trouble, at least, in my experience. Sure, the interior may be cramped, especially if you're tall, but the seats are comfortable. The performance is sluggish, the handling is not much to write home about, and the ride will make bumps feel 10x worse than they already are. But, it's still A Car. Gas mileage also fluctuates. Fuel economy, at best, is 28 mpg (on a full 13-gallon tank) and, at worst, 25 mpg, from my readings. Granted, while mine only has close to 56,000 miles on it, it will last, with no rust or paint problems whatsoever, compared to my mom's Silverado from the same year. Overall, it's one of the Jeeps ever.

I am a senior who finally had to trade my sportier Chrysler product for something more accessible. The only suitable car the dealer had available was the Compass. Mine is the High Altitude model with the 2.4L engine and the 6 speed auto. I expected a little better performance from it, but it is acceptable, Even with the 6 speed trans it is sluggish, but the auto-stick feature ameliorates this somewhat if you choose to manually shift it. It still isn't a race car but it will give acceptable take off without waiting all day to get to the next traffic light. The ride is comfortable, and handling is tame. As noted this is not a sports car but it is a good daily driver. Interior appointments are well thought out with lots of available storage space. My biggest disappointment is the instrument cluster. It looks like it came out of an early 70's car, except that the speedo and tach have terribly small numbering. I expect I will rely more on my GPS for speed indication. I was really disappointed with the lack of a trip computer, and tire pressure sensors. These have been mostly standard in Chrysler products for over a decade! Front passenger comfort is good with plenty of leg and headroom, with well cushioned , nicely trimmed (and heated!) seats with a powered driver's seat. The center console is two compartmented with a deep bucket, and a handy document compartment in the lid. The console space is necessary, with the glove box basically sized for a pair of gloves, and maybe a pair of glasses. There are also fairly spacious door pockets, and a dash tray. Another disappointment was the lack of a USB charging station, and only one 12 volt outlet. There is a 150 watt, 120 volt AC outlet, perhaps to plug in a USB charger? While rear storage is not on par with other vehicles in its class, it is certainly adequate for my needs, Especially if the rear seats are folded down, and I often carry quite a load of sporting and outdoor equipment, as well as a walker. The entertaiment center has good sound, with AM, FM, CD and Satellite, as well as an aux jack for external devices, and I love the Uconnect which feeds my phone through the sound sound system. I have not commented on the rear seats because I haven't used them, and likely will not, nor do I often have passengers, I will most likely keep the rear seats folded down. In spite of my disappointments, I have to rate this car with 4 Stars. It will more than adequately meet my needs, if not all of my expectations. The Compass was the least expensive SUV in its class in 2016, so who would expect it to have all of the features of its more expensive brethren, or even stable mates? At this point, I am satisfied with my purchase. No it is not best in its class, but it is a nice, comfortable, even attractive daily driver!
