Taking a 12-year-old CTS Sport Wagon to a Cadilllac dealership for service tends to make one brace oneself for the onslaught of potential sales pitch that naturally occurs when an older model comes in for service and the dealership is in the business of selling brand new ones. To my pleasant surprise the approach was quite the opposite and Terry, along with members of the sales staff, all seemed genuinely happy to provide service work without the sales pitch. The work was completed quickly and the car remains the reliable and fun-to-drive car that has been a testament to the make's time-honored claim as "Standard of the World". Even when I mentioned that a new Cadillac might be in the cards someday, the staff was happy to know they were helping keep one of the most iconic models that Cadillac has produced in recent years on the road. I have not owned a domestic car since 1986. I've owned mostly Mercedes and Jaguars for the past 35 years. The Continental compares very favorably to the Jaguar XJ-L and Mercedes Benz E-Class. I needed a 4-door sedan that could be serviced near my home which left mostly domestic (GM / Ford / Chrysler) brands to choose from. I relocated to an area about 85 miles outside a major metropolitan area and didn't enjoy the 1.5 hour drive to and from my servicing dealers (Mercedes and Jaguar) after a decade of doing so. I'm not a fan of Chrysler styling so I test drove a Cadillac and the Lincoln Continental. After comparing both cars, In 2022 we chose a 2018 Lincoln Certified PreOwned Continental Reserve AWD with the 2.7 twin-turbo under 20K miles. This car was a special-order with most every available option offered. The build quality is on par with Cadillac, Jaguar and other makes that I've owned. Comparing the Infotainment/technology to both Mercedes and Jaguar, the Lincoln tech is so much easier to set up, navigate and use. Engine response and performance is excellent! Interior leather and trim is top-notch with the 72-thousand position front seats, revel sound system, back seat package, technology package and other features. I absolutely love the exterior styling of the car...it looks expensive and feels expensive. The original msrp of my car was just under $70,000 when new...so perhaps it simply was expensive!
