If you want an everyday driver, with all the comforts a modern car can provide, then no.. this is not your car. If you want exhilaration and an ear to ear grin each time you take this car through a mountain pass or a glance from a sexy guy or gal each time you pass, then yes.. this is your car. It's bucket seats offer very little in terms of cushioning, the setup is stiff, and the steering is not powered. But for those who crave a tight connection with the road and a go-cart feeling like no other car you've ever driven, then the Lotus Elise simply can't be beat. Once driven, it's clear, Lotus has created a car for the car enthusiast who prefers the sound of the engine over the radio, performance over creature comforts, and a feeling you'll always reach for every time you push the ignition button. This is a drivers car, not a pampered car.

The Lotus Elise is a true sports car and that is all the company makes. This car is surprisingly comfortable even for tall drivers. Handling and acceleration are great for road or track and the unique styling of the Elise will set you apart from all the others.

The car is exiting and thrilling. The value of the car holds very well. It is daily derivable and very reliable. This is by far the most fun car for the money.

2011 was the last model year for the Elise in the US market. Per official Lotus' Archives there were only 77 Elises sold in the US that year. This car is beautiful and a head turner. It is faster than most people think. The Toyota Engine is just the shell and has been modified and tuned by Lotus engineers so it is not a Celica's motor by any means. 1.8 liter and 0-60 in 4.8 sec. It is the only street legal race car. The handling is the best of any exotic/sports car. No Ferrari or Lamborghini can beat this little car in any twisty road. Most likely collectible since they will never bring it back to America. Get yourself one if you can!

I have owned 2 Lotus Elises (06 Elise and an 08 Elise SC). I have also owned an 05 Corvette and several other sports cars and muscle cars. I've also had seat time in several German performance cars such as 911s and an M5. I am very much a sports car enthusiast, but I should point out that my main interest has always been with American muscle cars. I use these cars as both daily drivers and track day cars. While I still love Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, and anything else with a big V8, I can honestly say that my favorite car is now the Lotus Elise. While it's completely different in just about every way, it gives me every bit as much enjoyment as those other sports cars plus some. Before, I thought a great sports car was something with ridiculous power and the ability to pull big G-forces in the curves. That might get you your best lap time in some cases, but it's not the most fun way to get around a road course or your daily commute! Once you have driven an Elise, everything else feels like a blunt instrument. My 2nd favorite car is the Corvette, but even it feels bloated and numb to me. The 911 can't hold a candle to an Elise in terms of feel and nimbleness either, and it's maintenance costs are somewhat ridiculous. If you want a daily driver with decent trunk space, a comfortable ride, and the ability to perform well at track days or the drag strip, try a C6 or C7 Corvette. If you are a exceptionally large, old, or need tons of creature comforts, stay away from Lotus. However, if you want to go fast (almost as fast as a Corvette or 911 in most cases) and feel completely in tune with the machine that you are driving then the ONLY choice is a Lotus. I know there is nothing below $80k that will put as big of a smile on your face, and I doubt that even an unlimited budget would buy you as much pure fun. This car will show you new levels of control and communication, and it will make you a better driver.

Very few cars on the road can back up exotic good looks. The Elise does. Rewards any real driver with anticipating your next move. Not for the daily driver crowd, but perfect for the enthusiast who wants to reconnect with the road. And connect with the road you will. No imperfections go without notice, but they don't upset your drive. The Elise just lets you know they're there and stays planted. At the track, everyone wants to give it a go and feel the Lotus magic. As Colin Chapman said, this is a car to which they "add(ed) lightness". Not the fastest car out there, but always one of the quickest at the end of the lap. If you want pure exhilaration, look no further. If you want to be coddled, don't even think about the Elise. And, icing on the cake, it's affordable to buy and CHEAPER to maintain than anything else even close to this level of performance.

Worked with alex long. He was upfront with me on the jaguar xk that i was interested in. He replaced the top, at their expense, and shipped the jaguar to my location in ft myers. I'd give it five stars if it had a little more seat comfort. Might have to look into some padded covers. This car is not for everyone, just folks who REALLY love to drive.
