I loved this car. It picks up and moves. No lag. Smooth riding. Great gas mileage. Even with my clutch going out it still lasted a year. It finally died @ 270,000 miles. Freeze plug and timing belt. It performs well. Very nicely rounded. The downside of this vehicle was it needed higher Octane gasoline if ever you put anything below that the motor oil would get sludgy. Learned that the hard way. Lol. The car is great but when it’s done it’s completely done. Tune-ups are quite expensive but last longer versus an average 4-cylinder. More tune-ups for less money each time. Or a bit more money with fewer tune-ups needed. I'm sure the higher octane required has a big part in that also.

This car has four wheels and gets ya where ya need to be! With the bonus of being quite a snazzy looking vehicle. I wanted to buy this bad boy but the wife wanted something newer.

It was love at first test drive....I went to buy a 2007 Mini Cooper S 6 speed, well when I got to the dealer and the Cooper was sold, but they had just gotten a 07’ stormy blue mica Mx5 5-spd. I never even wanted an Mx5 but I took it out for a test drive, loved it and I bought it the next day. That was 10 years ago. I still have that Mx5 and it is my daily driver, I’ve kept it up and do maintenance regularly and keep all the paperwork. The most expensive thing that I’ve had to replace is the soft top which I did myself, but will never do again. I chose the cloth over vinyl it wasn’t too much more (Remember if your windows are tinted & you replace the top you have to re-tint the back window bc it’s glass w defrost) FYI. Other that that I’ve replaced the tires 2x. And the spark plugs 1x, I have added a K&N air filter. I’ve replaced the battery 2x and thats it. I can say that this car has given me peace of mind by how reliable and fun it is. Mazda recommends premium fuel so I’ve always used premium fuel. Ya I know that sucks but it’s worth 12.7 gallons of premium fuel for a completely full tank, that’s lasts approximately 400 miles. I have thought about replacing it with the Mini Cooper S, but I just love the Mx5’s rear wheel drive and light weight reliability I mean Mazda has gotten this car down to almost perfect. Don’t let people influence your buying by saying it’s a girls car or a hairdressers car or even a gay persons car. They actually did a study and not one hairdresser owned an Mx5. They mostly owned pt cruisers and mini Coopers. FYI (not that your profession has anything to do with a car!!!?) If that were true go then go (Mx5 hairdressers/girls!!!) bc they’re on to something most men don’t know, it’s one of the most raced cars on the planet. Enough about stereotypes. The facts are it’s been around 3 decades. It’s also landed a semi permanent place in the Guinness book of world records being the best selling sports car in the world. So don’t be surprised if your at a red light in your F250 and a girl or guy or hairdresser in an Mx5 is next to you bc they can and might make you look like an idiot in front of your passengers. By flying off the line before you Even know the light is green trust me I’ve done it more than once, and they usually meet up at the next light yelling at you to slow down, while they are yelling at you see green and do it all over again, LoL they’ll more than likely get behind you at this point thinking that they can blind you with their lights. Just flip the pwr mirror button to the far left and tilt your mirror up bc it blinds the driver back (instant Karma) that being said the Mx5 is not a luxury car, But it’s not supposed to be. I like to think of it as a smart man or woman’s race car. It has everything that you will want or need. Unless you don’t want to feel Or hear the engine along with your z-rated tires screaming and leaving their DNA on the road. Look the car up read a few articles and then test drive one (manual) if possible, but even the automatics have paddle shifting (I’ve never driven an automatic Mx5). Whatever version you choose I’m sure it will “WoW” you if you’re new to this classic automobile. After all the only thing you have to miss out on is the time of your life. Purchased the 2005 Tribute AWD 4 cylinder A/T new, daily driver and for weekend trips. Currently (2023) has 280k miles. As a precaution at 250k miles, we O/H'd the tranny, O/H'dm rear differential, replaced rubber brake lines, throttle cable, wheel bearings, u-joints. Didn't replace CV joints, as they are still tight. Interior is holding up well, exterior paint showing some age from being parked outside. I run Toyo AT tires, rated for 55k miles, 3 sets now exceeded 75k miles with one set going 85k. Only thing I don't like is the road noise from the (traction) tires. 21 mpg city, 25 hwy. Without cruise control. Very reliable, no surprises. Paid $16k new, spent $6k a couple years ago on repairs. Was worth it. It's a no frills rig that never lets me down. Not a lot of electronic stuff to fail. 4 stars overall because the seats could've been softer.

Tons of leg room. Absolutely quiet while driving. I wish we would have found this van before. It allows for transporting and helping my family. Definitely well made.

This cars reliability blows me away, I’ve had it for 4 years now and used to drive from hood river to Portland like twice a week with it, so I threw a good 75k miles, driven very hard on it with zero problems other than regular maintenance. Just had to replace my brakes and serpentine belt at 73k

The best purchase of my life. Bought this while in college as a basic sedan that I always liked the look of, and it was the most pleasant surprise of my life! So affordable, fun, peppy, responsive, and easy to maintain. It’s one of those cars that becomes your identity and a part of your personality. Maintained the car in my early 20s while going to school and had zero issues funding this car. Gas is cheap and my most major issue was the suspension needed to be redone when I hit 200k miles and because of harsh winters, I decided to put that repair money into a new AWD car. I miss the Mazda though!!! Recommend this vehicle to anyone and everyone!

I bought this car brand new in 2012. Paid 17k. Worth every penny. It has 63k miles onit right now. Have never done anything other than change the oil and filter. It runs like it is expected. Slow and easy. You won't win no races with it. But it gets my wife to work with no issues. { 5 miles} Rain or snow. We have taken it on several road trips. Including a couple 1000 plus mile trips. Running wide open the whole way. It has no problem. I am a big guy. Very un comfy in most cars. But this I fall right into it and am able to climb back out with ease. The interior is cloth. Its starting to fade. But still no tears or wear marks. Theres nothing fancy about this car. But my wife loves it.

Bought this car in high school and drove it to work, college, etc. for 5 years. It never broke down on me and handled well in all weather. The transmission did need to be fixed while I had it which seems common in Mazdas and it's an old car but since then it's still been running well.

I purchased my 2013 Mazda 3i Grand Touring Hatchback (manual transmission) in 2014 and the previous owner had put 30K miles on it. I've now got 140K and still love the car. Outside of recommended maintenance, the only repair expense I've had was I decided to replace the clutch. It hadn't failed but it was starting to show some slippage. I haven't even had to replace the brake pads yet! As for likes and dislikes that someone checking out this car might not notice just from looking, here are some negatives: 1) The 1-2 shift is always a bit notchy but others are smooth. 2) The 2.0L doesn't have a lot of power in the lower revs but 3000-4000 rpms it's pretty spirited (assuming you don't have four large adults in the car) 3) I ended up replacing the OEM headunit (the BOSE with Navigation) with an Eonon. I had issues getting the Eonon working early on but after a couple updates, it's been a huge improvement. 4) The biggest negative is that at some point, I'll have to let it go. On the positive side: 1) It handles great, 2) It carries a decent amount for its size 3) It gets good gas mileage (I used to average 35mpg but in recent years my driving in this car has been more around town and it's fallen back to 31-32.) 4) It's been extremely reliable. 5) The front seats are very comfortable (I'm 5'7" and the car fits me great. I imagine taller people would not be as comfortable.)

Surprised! They have a bunch of affordable inventory. Seemed like every car had new tires and brakes. Really honest guys. I'll be back again!

I purchased this car with just under 117K miles in late 2023 and wrote my first review after just 1,000 miles. Currently, it has 141K, so this is more of an ownership review than just first impressions. I haven't done much other than regular maintenance (oil changes, brakes, etc.) although I have replaced the exhaust. It always starts and returns excellent fuel economy. I get about 32 in the city and 42 on the highway, with an overall average of 36. For a small car it is stable but also has very agile handling. My only gripe is that it is very, very slow. It takes anywhere from 8 to 10 seconds to get to 60 MPH and can be scary at times when you really need to step on it and there's barely any power until 4000 RPM, but it's the sacrifice you'll need to make to get those high fuel economy figures. The Mazda3 is a great alternative to a Civic or a Corolla, while also offering a manual transmission on every trim and many available features. On the GT trim you can even get blindspot monitors and adaptive headlights!

I bought a 2013 Mazda 2 in 2016 from the original owner for my son while he was at graduate school at Harvard. I drove it with him from South Carolina to Massachusetts. For a small car, it is very comfortable. I think we calculated that it got about 34 mpq on the highway. It never gave us any trouble. My son recently bought an Audi Q3, ie, the only reason for selling it now.

We purchased this vehicle over the Mazda3 due to the fact the insurance premiums were lower and upon review, it was due to the fact it was a safer overall vehicle. We were never disappointed. This was such a fantastic out of school value buy! Relatively low overall maintenance required aside from the major mileage milestones and regular wear and tear. It remained reliable as we drove it to the near 175K Mileage mark. Smooth handling, reliable, safe, advanced features for 09 (keyless entry, push-to-start, bluetooth, leather power seats, blind spot monitoring, etc.) would absolutely recommend this car to anyone who wants a very high quality value buy.

Great car for everyday use that doesn't break the bank. I get under 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers after religiously monitoring fuel consumption for almost 50,000 kilometers. For a 2.0 gasoline engine, that's quite an achievement. The car also proved to be reliable on long trips, offering plenty of luggage space and a comfortable ride. The only annoying thing is the interior noise when driving on the highway.

I’ve always stuck with Japanese import cars because of their reliability and overall quality. The 2012 Mazda 3 is the first Mazda I’ve ever owned. I bought mine 4 years ago just coming out of a divorce and needed a good reliable vehicle that wasn’t very expensive. I’ve put over 50,000 miles on my 3 and the only thing outside of regular maintenance I’ve had to replace was a serpentine belt. For me, the car is perfect in size because I’m quite petite but if you’re a tall person I could imagine you don’t have much leg room since it would s a compact sedan. If I ever decided to trade my car in, I would definitely buy a much newer Mazda 3. They’re great on gas, gets about similar gas mileage to a Civic or Corolla and it’s a perfect car for daily commuting.

Got this as my first car with 116K miles. It now has 118K and it performs very well for its duties. I use it to get to and from school, visit family, and take joyrides. Although it rides smoothly, the interior feels a bit cheap, as to be expected for an economy car. I love the feel of a 6-speed manual, something I was looking for in a vehicle. I can get up to 37 miles per gallon just driving normally, and when I'm in the city, it's closer to 30. The seats are reasonably supportive and good for multi-hour trips but do not have any lumbar support and could be softer. It's easy to steer the vehicle but that becomes a problem on the highway when it is easy to drift into another lane since there's not much feel in the steering. My grandmother has a Honda CR-V and it has tighter steering, but that also means that it is harder to turn the wheel when moving slow or stopped. I love that it has a quality audio system and steering wheel controls for the radio and Bluetooth system. I never expected a sub-$20K MSRP car from 2012 to have Bluetooth. Sure, my dad's 2008 Highlander had it, but it was not great and did not support music. All in all, I love my car and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, fuel-efficient, reliable little car!

Bought this model in 2014 brand new, it's 10 years later, at 100K miles, still runs like new , only items done are maintenance so far.Tires, brakes, battery, wipers, etc. Has never been in the shop for anything else. Period.
