I bought the Mercedes e500 for a good deal with 112,000 miles. put a new battery in the back it has power but the engine won’t turn on any idea what it might be?

I bought this car in June 2009 and still have it. I have everything on it except the rear DVD. One concern is the low profile of the tires for the 20" wheels. This makes it more susceptible to pothole damage and occasional alignment adjustments. Still, it's a great car. I also like the running boards because they prevent door dings.

We bought this car for my wife in 2020 at the edge of the pandemic. It had 55K km at the time and we now have 190K km. We have done the usual necessary maintenance services and it has been excellent and still is a great car for the value. I love it and particularly enjoy the diesel economical driving. Too bad Mercedes stopped making it.

2013 C350 RWD, AMG Performance and Handling package. 108,000 miles. Bought this car in '16 with 40,000 Miles. It continues to serve me well. The one major problem has been an anti-theft ignition switch that only the dealer can fix. Cost 2k to fix. This is the only repaired I've needed. I have had all scheduled maintenance done, Runs quite well, and still has great performance. Handling is the best.

I bought my 2007 SLK 280 used in 2022. I had it inspected and knew ahead of time I was going to have to put another $5k into it to make it right and how I wanted. So far I’m very happy with the car and am glad I spent the money. Great combination of being sporty, luxurious and roomy. I initially was considering buying a used Porsche Boxster but I’m 6’4” and it was too cramped and the interior looked and felt cheap to me. My SLK just looks and feels very high quality and it is so much fun to drive. I put in an upgraded radio with touch screen, usb, CarPlay etc. made in China that was made to match the existing accessories (highly recommend). The car is in such good condition people think it’s new. I’m always looking for excuses to drive it and can’t wait to get in it. It has a top speed of 155. I have had it up to 130 and it’s solid as a rock. The Germans make their cars autobahn ready.

The 2012 used ml350 Bluetec that I purchased is a dream to drive. The small turning radius makes u-turns carefree. The Diesel engine purrs as quietly as a gas engine. It’s the 10th Mercedes that I’ve had, and the 2nd diesel. I plan on driving this car for many more years. It’s an Arizona car, 8 years old,and still like new. 61,000 miles and lots of life left.

2012 C250 Coupe summer 2014 CPO purchase. Odometer read 23000 mile as I wrote a check for $2500. Now at 42,000 miles this beautiful Iridium Silver coupe has one repair issue (ESL) It's the best looking car I've ever owned. An 850 mile round trip to AZ - mostly interstate - showed 35 MPG. I rarely push the turbo 4 - - - but when I do - the car responds in a - at least to me - a satisfying manner! In addition to decent highway fuel economy and adequate low end torque the car is just plain gorgeous - inside and out.

Bruno Sacco is considered one of Mercedes best designers. He was inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame along with GMs Bill Mitchell and Harley Earl. Heady company indeed. The other day, I am on the freeway and a motorcycle cop is following me. Then he pulls into the right lane comes up beside me. It is hard to stay the speed limit in this car - it likes to run. The cruise control is your friend. Oh !#$%^ I think He yells out, "Nice Car" and speeds off. I paid $7,000 for this car in 2013. When new it was close to $100,000. I have probably put $20,000 into it making it reliable to the point I could hop in it and drive across country tomorrow. I got it with 113,000 miles and now have 205,000 miles. In addition to normal stuff you'd replace on a (then) 17 year old car, I had to replace the transmission with a factory rebuild. It was the first year of the electronic 5 speed and while it had 3 major updates though 2000, it had its issues. Still, I got 145,000 miles from that. The top is an intricate set up of an electric hydraulic pump and 11 hydraulic cylinders. The cylinders seals leak over time, and I replaced those last year. That can run up to $4,000 depending on where you do it. Had tie rod ends, other front end parts replaced recently. New A/C compressor, a/c hoses rebuilt. Normal stuff for an old car. But getting back to Bruno Sacco - he made cars with timeless designs, such as the 80's line of Mercedes. And he considers this car to be his best design. Make sure it comes with a hardtop. The hardtop came standard but believe it or not some are sold without a hard top. For years I wondered how you managed to lose a hard top weighing over 100 lbs and then it occurred to me that many of these tops were stored outside the home - I have a rack with wheels and it sits in the garage. But if the owner died no one would know where the top is. Others have different opinions but I would avoid the V12 unless you have a lot of money budgeted for maintenance. This was their flagship - $130,000 new, but the engine is tight and just about anything you have to work on involves the intake manifold being removed. Book time on the V12 to replace th rubber valve cover gaskets - 7.5 hours! On this engine (M119 SL500) they are easy. Beautiful car and that engine (V12) is turbine smooth but when you need maintenance... By the same token I would avoid the ADS - their air suspension. Came standard on the 600, optional on the 500, N/A on the 6. Nice when it works but when it ages can be maintenance intensive. In summary, I have spent more money than I thought maintaining this car but I love driving it.

This is an update. I have had the car for nearly a year now and it's excellent! I bought it was $256,000 MI, replace the suspension, didn't oil change, and started using Chevron premium gas which took care of the catalytic converter light. Handles like new with four new tires. I also did a transmission fluid and filter change. Lots of power and at 60 MPH I get almost 20 miles per gallon. Not bad for the v8!

We searched all over Northern Virginia for a reliable used car for our college aged daughter. Got a 2012 250 Sport and I knew I was going to put $$$ into it. Nothing earth shattering but I was the 4th owner and if you look at ANY USED Euro-car owned in America- these cars many times are not taken care of, wrong oil, wrong octane. The parts for this car are not that expensive and if you find a good mechanic that is not a $$$$$$ Dealership TECHNICIAN BUT that said- it is a smart idea to take it to a dealership and pay the money for a complete inspection. if the seller will allow it,..., if not- move on unless you love surprise after surprise. I am almost finished with mine, got it for $8000, put in $4000 into fixing codes, brakes, oil cooling system, and a rear SAM module that went bad only because someone did a poor repair and I tell anyone,...., KNOW YOUR ENEMY!(your Benz of course! LOL!) If you do the maintenance and you have your car in good repair, you will not have that much problem and will enjoy this road monster for YEARS. I get 25 to 30+ MPG easily around town and if straight Hwy driving- 35mpg+ on ECONO-Mode and it always turns heads. The dark Cobalt Blue is a Mercedes Iconic color and the 2012 was a turning point to where they are pretty highly looked for, just look at the coupes in the early 2000s and you'll see why. But the style of this coupe is found in every Mercedes after, no matter the model coupe. I plan to keep it for years, I take care of issues when they happen- you cannot afford to let one thing after another add up- if you do you'll wish you bought a VW BUG and that goes for almost any fine Euro-Automobile. Just make sure it is a Stuttgart car- it's on the VIN badge in the door well. If you enjoy a tight, controlled (hardly if any over steering), smooth cruising coupe, this is your car and at the price of High test, the 30+mpg is a good thing. the front tires are sized smaller than the rear, I would recommend uni-directional- only way to go! Once you hit the RPM stages and the Turbo picks up, you just fall into a great dream- no one who has ridden in my car wants to get out! LOL!!!! Seats are still like new firm after 14 years, Interior wood-like panels are in-expensive and very easy to replace as well. The steering is SOLID- you feel like you can drive anywhere on any surface, and the sound system is superb. 5disc CD and all the other perks that a car a lot more would cost,..., this one has. Tires can be crazy $$$$ but shop online- there are great online companies that will beat out your local tire places, I got the set of 4 for this 250C online for $238 delivered to my mechanic with Free Shipping just 6 weeks ago- May2024! So shop around on everything- with a good mechanic you can afford a great iconic German car too! Be good!

I am still driving this car after 11 years. I spent about $2200 on average per year to fix or replace this thing. Still drives good, far more expensive that I would like it to be.

I've had this car since 2012. Bought demo from a dealer. Reliability is excellent. After 120000 miles I've only had to replace the timing chain and gears, thermostat, front brakes and tires. Drives like a dream. None of my past GM vehicles would even come close to being this reliable.
