I bought a 1997 C230 for $1300. Was told it needed the coil packs replaced. I bought the original OEM parts on eBay along with new spark plugs for right around $40. After replacing the plugs and coils and resetting the codes THIS CAR RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE A DREAM. I still can’t believe I bought this car for $1300 and only put $40 into it. It’s 25 years old and is in mint condition. Not a single dent on it. 195000 miles and it drives like it’s brand new. I feel like I stole this car.

Once at the dealership and checking out other cars they gave me all the time I needed, never felt pressured and were very transparent about the car itself and what to expect (I bought a '99 Mercedes so the mechanic talked me through some of the issues that might arise). Bought my 128i with 50,000 miles 3 years ago and it has needed very little attention. Basic maintenance and not any major problems. Had a z3 and this is every bit as fun to drive. For a 13 year old vehicle I get many people commenting on the looks and they think it is much newer. I think BMW is going to regret doing away with the inline 6 engine eventually. Super reliable engine that is only used in their upper end vehicles and the high performance M models now days. The turbocharger engines are impressive performing but you just don't get the reliability of them that are non turbo. Unless you are looking for more horsepower don't go turbocharger. They are expensive to maintain and turbos wear out premature opposed to non turbo engines. The 128i is the perfect amount of horsepower to size and weight for the majority of people. It is a shame that it was discontinued. If you find a well maintained one you can't go wrong. Ask any mechanic about turbo engine reliability and they will side with any car without a turbo!!

Perfect family car definitely roomy, good gas mileage, far, nice pick up speed, sporty, good to transport large items "suv like". Stereo signed great, double Moonroof is definitely a plus
