The acceleration lag that this car has is immediately outweighed by everything else. This car is super smooth and granny sedan comfy, and it has more utility than any equally priced SUV. The roof rails have built-in cross bars that stow, it tows 3500 pounds, and the Harmon-Kardon sound system kicks. It has butt fans, people. Additionally, the aftermarket base is thick, so accessories, customization, and reflashing options abound. The tech is old, the powertrain is old, but you see 300 of them a day for a reason.

We currently own the Outback 2024 XT, and it’s a great car to drive. However, its turbo CVT engine does produce a slight lag in acceleration and when slowing down. Just a matter of getting used to. Also had issue with the lift gate button, which broke after only two months in possession. My wife and I are in our 60s, and all our kids have their own families, so thank goodness we don’t have to drive those 8 seater SUVs anymore. This outback has been the best alternative for us.

I brought my car in for a diagnostic to check on issue that I was having with my vehicle. Lynese H. was my service advisor and did a great job of keeping me informed throughout the process. I was initially planning to wait at the dealership, but when it became apparent that the techs would need a longer time, Lynese promptly arraigned shuttle service for me so that I could get a ride home. Lynese described all issues in an easy to understand manner and requested my approval before any repairs were made and expenses incurred. Last November I drove my 2018 Outback Premium (which I loved) to the local dealer to test drive a 2025 Limited XT and get the complimentary $50 Visa card they were promoting at the time, and ended up driving back in the new XT. Following are my impressions after 10 months of ownership. We're big fans of Subaru's safety tech. My wife's car is a 2023 Forester, and the Reverse Automatic Braking has saved her from at least one accident. Her previous car was a 2021 Hyundai Tucson, and its reverse sensors seemed like they never worked. If safety is a priority, you won't find many manufacturers that beat Subaru (same for their all wheel drive system). The newer generation EyeSight system is superior to the 2018's. I would commonly turn off the Pre-Collision Braking on the 2018 (which was easy with the physical switch unlike the virtual switch accessible only through the head unit on the 2025) since I found it to be oversensitive when I was following someone making a right turn. The 2018 would prematurely brake which I feared could lead to being rear ended. My 2025 does not have the same issue, and while it has given me a blinking/beeping warning in the dash display in similar situations, it has not started actually braking like the 2018. For me, I have found I only get warnings from the car when my driving actually warrants it. The extra power of the 2.4L turbo (XT) was a big selling point, although I feel it's not mated to the CVT as well as the non-turbo 2.5L. There is noticeable throttle lag with the XT which you have to get used to, but man, it really moves after that momentary lag. I never found my 2018 non-turbo to be underpowered, but I definitely love the extra punch of the turbo. One of my biggest hesitancies with the 2025 was all the touchscreen buttons/menus of the head unit, but the joy of driving the car has softened my annoyance. Since I don't feel the need to shut off any safety features, I never have to look for them in the head unit menus. When I start the car, I only turn off the auto start/stop with the dedicated button at the bottom of the screen and wait the usual 20-30 seconds for the head unit to fully boot up giving the turbo/engine time to get lubricated before I put her into drive. I'm a big fan of wireless Android Auto and have found it to be very stable (and much better than the wireless dongles I tried with the 2018). I use the automatic climate control 99% of the time, so I don't miss the physical buttons and knobs in the dash (all I need are temperature up/down which ARE physical buttons). It's a great cruising vehicle with a great ride, and I look forward to packing the family inside for extended road trips. I'm happy we have the last year of the "wagon" generation of Outbacks and plan to keep it for many enjoyable miles.

This is our third Outback. Seats could be better. Sit in a VW or Volvo and you'll see how they could be improved. Window buttons should located in a place where a dog can't stem on them. They moved the heated seat buttons. Our dog no longer steps on those.

I think for the most part, I like my car. I have had a couple issues, one of them is probably not the cars fault, (but seeing other people have the same issue, it makes me wonder) I now have 50k miles on it and in that time I have only had to replace the battery and tires, to be expected on a 6 year old car. (and windshield) The windshield is the questionable item. It seemed to crack out of nowhere and I thought I must have gotten a small rock chip while driving down the highway and just didn't see it until it started to crack. So I replaced it at a cost of almost $1000. However, I am on an Outback form and it seems to be a common complaint with outback owners of this year, having the windshield crack out of nowhere. Could it be the frame design? Maybe, but it does seem suspicious that others have had the same issue. One other problem I have had is if I let my car sit unused for like 5 days, the battery goes completely dead. There seems to be a parasitic drain somewhere on the car. It doesn't happen if I drive it every day, but if it sits for about 5 days unused, the battery goes completely dead. I have read it has something to do with the DCS system in the car, but you have to pay the dealer a diagnostic fee to verify. I drive it enough I have not gotten it checked, but next time I am at the dealer I am going to ask them about it.

Turn signals do not have a loud sound. They are very low My 2016 Outback has nice loud turn signals. You cannot turn your radio off. The only way not to hear it is to put the sound real low. Two major complaints I have

I fell in love with the Wilderness Trim from the very first time i saw it. I had a 2017 Outback Limited and loved it too. Had a co-worker who really needed a reliable, well taken care of SUV. I told her I will sell it to her. With the money i got Wilderness. Best decision ever. Has that little extra ground clearance and details that makes this car so unique. Yes the screen is large and has a lot on it, but after a while got used to it. If the Outback was my dream car, This Wilderness is beyond my dreams! The Turbo is great, gives that extra +80HP compared to my Outback and it's noticeable specially when using paddle shifters. Hope i can keep this one for many many years.

We replaced our 2015 Outback with a 2025 Outback Limited. Decided to stay with Subaru as we had good reliability in the 125,000 miles on the 2015. Normal maintenance, only 3 minor warranty issues early. The new car is one model trim higher than the previous one. The only real complaint would be the "auto engine shutoff," but that is easily turned off. I prefer the built-in look of the center display versus the tacked-on tablet on top of the dash. We had hoped to wait and see the new 2026 model but from the photos at the NY auto show debut I was not a fan of some of the changes. I should note we also have a 2021 Ascent Limited which we enjoy traveling with.

Upon entering the lot we were no pressured into anything. The sales rep, Richard Cypress, was very personable. He allowed us to do a test drive of the vehicle, still no sales pressure. 2023 Subaru Outback Limited XT. A great station wagon (it’s not really a SUV). Comfortable leather seats, smooth ride and extremely quick with the turbo. If you don’t need seating for eight, you have no need for the Ascent. Same engine and cargo capacity and ground clearance, lower to the ground, faster, better handling and several thousand dollars cheaper. Standard all wheel drive. Full safety suite. 11.6” infotainment system is really closer to 8” as the climate control takes the additional 3.6”. The Harmon Kardon sound system will blow your doors off. Good in car navigation. Wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Hands free tailgate. 0-60 in 5.8 on regular gas. Standard roof rails. Even has heated outboard rear seats. If you’re considering a midsize or smaller SUV you owe it to yourself to drive this first.

We decided to purchase a couple of Jeeps. Ourisman was the only place that had the model we wanted so I decided to make the trip from NM. I thought is was a crazy idea but with the pandemic going on it seemed fitting to do something crazy. I had pleasant experience. So ended up buying 2 Jeeps and because the transport was 2 months out I flew there twice. The guys are fantastic. The price we agreed on is the price I paid. People should be able to understand the advertised price includes incentives they might not qualify for. It is the name of the game. But look at the bottom line and likely the price from Ourisman will be better than the rest. The sales person was great and Younes, the general manager, as well as Simo, the sales manager, make the buying experience pleasant.

The Touring XT has all the bells and whistles of a luxury SUV for a lower price point. The extra turbo thrust is impressive! It has a very comfortable ride for long trips.

I have an 3,000 miles on my new basic 2024 Outback. (My only add on was a rock chip protection.). I drove from North Utah across Wyoming to Colorado Spring & learned that my vehicle has plenty of power without a turbo. It ran true and handled efficiently at the speed limit of 80 miles per hour. I added a Cargo cover (as insisted by my lady to hide valuables from prying eyes in our parking garage). One comfort problem discovered the absence of a car charger for a passenger up front. A 2nd missed item on my basic 2024 Outback are the smaller visors (The Sun in my eyes was difficult to block.). I notice road noise which interferes with my hearing conversations from my console. I am not sure if Subaru insulates the “loaded” models better? My trip took me to Galveston where We parked in a hotel long term parking for a week long Cruise. Getting to know the car this way… the driving back thru I 45 & I 35 to Waco & Dallas had me wishing I had negotiated for a few more creature comforts than the basic model provides.

New dealership looks great. They needed a bigger space. Did not really take to the person that assisted me. She was indifferent and was kind of a fast talker and a mumbler. Very dry personality. Love the new look and do enjoy a few of the people that work there but this experience was meh!!!
