We bought our 2008 Matrix in 2018 for $3000 with 180k miles. Still reliable at 325k miles. Mostly routine maintenance performed. However, we did change a few door handles and engine mounts. Occasionally hits 40 mpg hwy when traveling on flat highway at 65mph. We love the storage space of a RAV4 and Corolla fuel efficiency. We plan to keep our daily driver until 500k miles.

I miss mine. Bought it about 8 years ago for my son right after college. He drove it everyday until he moved to NY about 3 years ago, then I started driving it about everyday. Only trouble was a battery dying. About 3 weeks ago he moved back and now got it. SAD!!!!!. That car has the quickest pickup and can hang with the best of them for a 4 Cylinder. Toyota should have never stop making this one. Have to give it a five out of 5. I search the used car adds looking for another one.

Excellent car. Might not be the most beautiful one or the most powerful one but a very good car to drive in city or to travel around the world. Odometer stops at 299 999km but i think mine is at 400 000km. Maintenance is really cheap and I never had a major issue with it. Really economic on gas. I'd 100% recommend it above all for it's reliability

This is really a great car and has served us so well. We were going to drive it until it died (a long way off) but got a deal on a family member's car that I could not pass up. I bought a new a 2008 Matrix XR in September 2007. I still have it. It is nearly 18 years old and runs great. I do regular synthetic oil changes every 4500 miles. And have Toyota do routine maintenance as per owners manual. It is a 4 speed Automatic with all safety features that are important. I plan on keeping another 18 years if it keeps going.

Great car drive and also great to haul just about anything Small to mid sized since the back seats fold all the way down. And it gets good Gas MPG as well.

Have had my 2005 Matrix for a couple of years and let me tell you she's a rider. My Lady bug 🐞 gets me where I need to go. Easy parking and less time at the pump. Would totally keep til the wheels fall off in at 200k+ miles.

At a time when I was moving around two dogs and a cat, this car was an absolute must. It was a great value to start and even more so now that I use it as a second vehicle. The only maintenance I've done is the routine oil changes, etc. I expect to own it for another 10 years

Bought this car in 2003 and it is still going strong in 2025 after more than 180000 miles. Lots of interior space. Outstanding reliability, never let me down in 20+ years. Needed some replacements of consumable parts: shocks, exhaust, radiator. Above all, it is still a pleasure to drive!

I've owned my 2009 Matrix XRS since 2008 and it has been a great & reliable car that has only required regular maintenance to keep it going. I get 28-30mpg on the highway and even though I am 6'3", I am very comfortable in the driver's seat. My one complaint is the high performance tires that come on the XRS trimline are expensive and wear out much more quickly than the recommended ~40-50K mile range. I've driven my Matrix 108K miles and plan on keeping it for much much longer.

After few years of usage, the car hard start. It gives electrical issue that affect the car performance. The car usually failed to start when hot due to such impact. The car wiper sometimes work on it own. Lastly, the car consume more fuel as it aged due to usage.

This is the best car I have ever owned! I used to use her to drive to and from work but now that I am retired I use her for whatever I need. She holds a lot of stuff, especially for her size. The only problem I had go wrong was the clutch in the air conditioner. After a couple of years it was evident, I was not going to be getting rid of this car anytime soon so I got it fixed so I didn't have to sweat any more. That was about 12 years ago. I have done regular oil changes and filter changes. I am not saying she has had no abuse because she survived teaching a new driver and the abuse from a not so careful driver. This car is easy to park and is still super comfortable. I can't tell you how much I love her. I wish I had bought 2 of them!

This was last year of AWD in a Matrix. I was able to drive through 9-11” of snow to get to work. The transmission went out and repair shop quoted $4500 to repair . I donated the car and proceeds went to Iowa Public Radio. Have to admit I shed a few tears when she hauled away.

Love the Matrix, got sport package and she looks sharp. Sun roof and low bumpers makes a good appearance. Still looks new! This is my 6th Toyota. Can't beat them! When my friend's cars are in the shop, I m off to Vegas! 150,000 miles and still flying!

Original owners since 2004. Amazing vehicle all around, mainly for the sole reliability it provides. Pushing 470,000km without a single problem ever, this car will never let you down. Maintenance is cheap as dirt because the engine is so well made and nothing ever breaks, timing chain replaced for the first time at 450,000km which is insane. Not to mention it handles well and is quite responsive and smooth for An old car like this and the seats are pretty comfortable easy for long drives. Great on gas super cheap. Overall would definitely recommend, great car.
