I bought a 2019 Tacoma with 89k. So far performance is fantastic and can definitely experience the quality build. This has made me skeptical of the reviews about poor engine build and transmission problems like hunting for gears. Can't pretty much dispel the proven track record of the 2019 as one of Toyota best build of the year. As for the transmission, it is still the best performing and reliable 6 speed transmission as compared to the other brands with high failure rates. One of the reason I stick with Toyota because I once had another brand manufacturer bought new and as soon as it hit over 100k, transmission problems or some solenoid problem. As for the engine, the dealer even included a lifetime engine warranty. That just tells me, they never expect the engine to fail. the review with the engine knocking sounds like an another brand car. it just doesn't happen to a toyota.

Purchased this truck for it's reliablity.Opted for a SR5 trim because it's not lifted nor branded with stickers. Have 44-k miles now. No issues. Just scheduled factory maintenance. I plan to run this truck well over 300-k miles. Is it perfect? No. The engine is somewhat lack luster, the gas milesage is just okay and the interior is somewhat small compared to a full size truck. however,However, I trust this truck to serve me well into the future without any major issues.

This vehicle seems to be an outstanding vehicle for its class. The only reason that I'm not giving it five stars for comfort is that it rides like a truck -- which is what its supposed to be, but quite comfortable for a truck. The other four star rating I gave it was because it was not available with a manual transmission. Again, it's a truck, not a car and trucks, as working vehicles should be available with a manual transmission -- but people today don't want to actually have to DRIVE a vehicl.

For the size of motor it's surprisingly powerful. The transmission is smart and performs when needed, use the manual shift when needed. The ride is smooth, the suspension superior on the freeway handling anything I ask of it nicely. Off road it has traction features galore, nothing left for complaints. Best truck I ever owned.

I leased a 2020 Toyota Tacoma and loved it. It was reliable but a little loud inside but that was fine. I just looked at the 2024 Tacoma and they got ride of the 6 cylinder and got a turbo motor. I don’t trust anything made after 202- so I’m looking for a 2021 Tacoma.

Fairly quick got trade in done very quickly but so many options on new cars and getting financing for new one took a little longer, but very satisfied with resuts!

My 2021 SR5 Tacoma is louder on the inside than my 2006 Tacoma was after 137,000 miles. Would seem like there wasn't as much sound deadening material installed for increased profits. Exterior lighting was also via halogen or incandescent bulbs rather than LEDs; another profit pinch.

I bought this truck new after major styling change in Tacomas and traded in a 2008 Tacoma SR 5 and getting back 88% of what I paid for new in 2008. I've had no problems with this 2016 so far and never did with 2008 except fir window washer issue.

This is a big truck and it rides like a truck. It is spacious... especially the back seat. The V8 is nice one thing that appeals to me. My truck currently has around 48 thousand miles on it. I've had to replace the starter and a relay switch for the A/C. I've owned a lot of Toyotas over the years. This is the first one I've owned that needed more than just regular maintenance. While I would recommend it I'm not convinced it is a better value then a Ford or GMC as I once felt.

I bought my 2017 in spring of 2020 with 27k miles for $27k. I was specifically looking for a TRD Sport, manual trans. The Tacoma is the only manual trans truck produced anymore. I currently have 80k miles on it now and the blue book still shows it at $23k-$24k. I have not had any issues with it. I have done my own maintenance (oil changes and just recently front brake pads). The 2017 was the last year before they added all the safety stuff with the cruise controls. I'm glad I don't have that stuff. I also have the map system in my factory head unit and don't have to rely on the Apple carplay or Android auto apps. There was some discomfort in the seat. It was easily resolved with items that can be purchased to adjust the seat to your liking. There are a lot of complaints on the power and fuel mileage. Really?? Its a truck. Its not a sports car or compact sedan. Its not going to get the greatest mileage or set land speed records. If you want something that always starts, never leaves you stranded, and you can count on everyday, this is the one. If you want something that you want to spend a bunch of money repairing, you may want to look elsewhere.

For a non full size pickup it seems pricey, but then again full size truck prices are ridiculous. The interior is really nice, spacious and well built. The truck handles incredibly well, and the 4 cylinder turbo has plenty of power. I was impressed with it's 6,000+ towing power. The exterior is mean looking and looks great heading down the road. I bought a SR model because I need a truck, not something full of options. The only downside is the box is smaller and holds a lot less than a full size and the Toyota sense safety is a bit much. I know it's there for a reason but it can be confusing.

Perfect truck. Best all around pick-up truck. Good off road, great gas mileage. Cheap insurance, awesome looking, good towing, decent load capacity, seats 4 comfortably. Rides great.

The good news? I found my car. The bad news? It was in Fontana! I live in Mission Viejo, O.C. What's even worse, the ride I arranged to take me back to pick it up, was taken to hospital with covid. Yikes! Well, I struggled to find an alternative ride yet it seems people just don't like Fontana. THANKFULLY, I had MATHEW as my salesman. He was a dream the moment I walked on the lot. MATHEW was very polite, non intrusive and he answered every question I had. I live on disability which isn't a lot but he helped me make a great deal and I was very happy. WHEW! Now, how to get it home. After 4 days, I still hadn't found a ride back to Fontana to pick up my new (Used) outback. MATHEW saved the day. He said he would deliver the Outback to me...And he did. My gratitude is huge. Every moment I was at Johnny's Motors, it was a stress free experience, which is so rare at most dealerships. I'm grateful to the owner for not insisting on 'wolfish' sales people that pester you at every step. MATHEW was fresh air in a hot room. He answered every one of my questions and seemed knowledgeable about all the cars. Yes, despite the distance, I will go back because I trust Johnny's Motors and I certainly am pleased with his team. So far I am very pleased with my Toyota Tacoma, it is more than I expected and the biggest surprise is the low interior noise and the smooth ride. I was able to go down to south Florida (Pembroke Pine area with my three kid and they enjoyed the ride. Every time we are going some where they want me to take the Tacoma instead of my wife Honda mini van.
