Compare that to a gas car at 30 MPG and $3.50/gallon: 2,000 miles at 30MPG= 66.7gals times $3.50 = $233/month That’s nearly $190/month in savings per car, just on fuel. Multiply that by 3 cars and a full year, and the numbers quickly add up. Maintenance Savings Beyond the fuel savings, the Bolt EVs don’t need oil changes, transmission services, or exhaust system repairs. Brake wear is minimal thanks to regenerative braking. For us, the maintenance costs dropped to little more than tire rotations (free at Discount Tire), washer fluid and cabin air filters. The 1990 Jeep Wrangler Sahara with the 4.2 liter V6 and a manual transmission is a real Jeep. By real I am talking about it being Jeep tough and easy to work on. What is shares with the Jeeps of today besides those things that I would say make it a real Jeep is its off-road capability and convertible top which enables those in it to really enjoy those capabilities. This old Jeep makes power at very low RPMs unlike the Jeeps of today. While I have yet to try, it likely would climb a tree in 4-low at 1,500 RPM. This kind of fun does come at the expense of it being a comfortable highway cruiser, though it is still capable. And then to top it off, if someone takes fair care of it, these hold their value. All Jeeps are fun vehicles, but the old ones are more about the off-road fun - making them best as a second vehicle.

We purchased a used TDI with 50K miles. now has over 150K and have only done oil changes and fuel filter. Only necessary repair was the HVAC blower motor just recently failed. Incredibly reliable car. Diesel engine paired with the 6 speed automatic trans delivers awesome torque whenever you need it. 50+ mpg on hwy trips and averaging 39 mpg commuting. The interior is obviously not luxurious but comfortable enough to keep you happy. I should mention the Stereo system and bluetooth is unreliable. Powers itself on and off at random and will require repair. The cargo area is surprisingly large when the seats are folded down as well.
