Where the Kia Telluride Really Fits in the Market
So, Kia has a spacious, comfortable, technology- and feature-packed SUV, but where does this vehicle fit in the market, and who is it for? In short, it’s for folks like Brad and Ashley. The Telluride was designed and built for active people, outdoor enthusiasts and people who march to the beat of their own drum.
Forget the segment stalwarts from Honda or Toyota. With Telluride, Kia stakes its claim at the head of the class. Brad and Ashley said they used to recommend some of the other key players in this segment, but the Kia simply makes more sense from a total cost standpoint.
“I think it’s the best value out there,” Brad said. “They’ve been able to create a competitor to the Audi Q8.” He noted that while the Telluride might not compete with the Audi on paper, to him, it’s up there with the Q8. “We had a friend who owned a Telluride and then bought an Audi SQ8. He said it’s twice the amount of money and half as good.”
And that’s what’s so interesting about the Telluride. It’s so well positioned within its segment, it starts drawing comparisons from outside its segment. Most people don’t cross-shop an Audi and a Kia, but the Telluride clearly has changed the game.
Within its segment, it manages to stand out far and away from the competition for Brad and Ashley. “He has told so many friends to buy a Kia Telluride,” Ashley said of Brad.
Brad talked about the reliability of Kia and how far the company has come in the last few decades. Kia builds some of the most reliable vehicles in the market. Their industry-leading 10-year/100,000-mile warranty program is truly a commitment to quality. “You want to get something that’s going to continue to be reliable once your warranty goes away.”
“You can drive those other vehicles in the segment, but you have to drive the Kia Telluride and tell me you don’t like it better than the other ones,” Brad said. “It’s the best vehicle in this segment.”
