Seller's notes
The 1987 model year marked the evolution of the Fiero platform, showcasing Pontiacs continuous refinement of a concept that was ahead of its time. At its core is the 2.5-liter Iron Duke inline-four engine, a proven OHV powerplant selected by GM for its robust fuel economy and ease of service. Rated at 98 horsepower and 135 lb-ft of torque, its paired seamlessly with a 3-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth and efficient operation. One of the defining characteristics of the Fiero is its rear mid-engine layouta configuration rare in American automotive manufacturing, offering a unique driving dynamic with balanced weight distribution and an engaging on-road experience.
This 1987 example benefits from several key updates that separate it from earlier Fieros. While power steering would not become available until the final year of production in 1988, this model features manual steering, offering a connected and responsive feel at speed, true to the cars lightweight engineering philosophy. Additionally, this vehicle has been retrofitted to use modern R134a refrigerant, ensuring that its factory air conditioning system remains functional with current refrigerant standards.
Underneath its sleek bodywork, the Fiero utilizes a steel spaceframe chassis clad in composite body panels, making it resistant to corrosion and easily serviceablea concept that would later influence GMs Saturn lineup. The vehicle's sharp lines, integrated pop-up headlights, and compact fastback proportions garnered attention from the moment it was unveiled, and its semi-exotic design continues to attract enthusiasts and collectors alike. The Fieros unique aesthetic and engineering composition led to over 370,000 units being sold during its brief five-year production run, but examples like this onewith under 1,000 milesare exceedingly uncommon.
This Fiero also comes with a clean CARFAX report, adding another level of confidence for collectors seeking authenticity and transparency. Vehicles of this calibershowcasing an exceptionally low original mileage figure combined with historical significance and standout designare increasingly difficult to locate.
Finding another 1987 Pontiac Fiero like this is exceptionally rare. It is an outstanding representation of a pivotal chapter in American automotive engineeringoffering a mid-engine platform, striking design, and remarkable originality in one compelling package. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a standout piece of 1980s General Motors innovation that continues to resonate with enthusiasts and collectors to this day.

ITs a great car, even with age- She still is a win
This is the third Fiero I have owned, and I must say that I have always felt the design and style of this american made car was ahead of it's time. This car is hot, fun to drive and holds it's value well. And, when you are done with it, you can easily convert it into any high performance sports car you want, replica cars are built on the chassis of this car and they look good. - Purchased a Used car
