  • Great overall vehicle, 40-ish MPG.

PROS: * Overall 39 or 40 MPG combined city and highway. Really. * 500+ mile range on a full tank * Toyota's driver assist goodies work well (radar cruise, et. al) to reduce driver fatigue in both stop-and-go commuting and highway trips. * Sufficient power and acceleration to compete with big-city freeway traffic; uphill freeway on-ramps and so forth. * Nicely agile without being skittish. It goes where you tell it to with no drama. * I have done mild off-roading in Arizona. No problems, handles as hoped for. CONS: * Only one I can think of. Front seats are stiff. I find myself shifting my weight to get comfortable more often than I like.

  • Comfortable car w/great mileage

The ride and room are quite good. In cold weather the mileage is 35-37 mpg and in warm weather up to mid 40s. The 40 mpg noted on the sticker is quite obtainable based on the16k miles driven to date. Toyota also fixed the gas tank issue which my vehicle had.

  • Skimpy on storage space

Last February I had to replace my beloved 2003 Toyota Highlander. Having researched the newer Highlander I thought it would be too large for my needs. I love Toyota’s reliability and wanted to buy another SUV to transport my large dog and still have enough room for grocery bags, shopping bags and the items I always keep in the car such as a car emergency kit, treats, water and a bowl for the dog and a couple of small towels. The storage areas inside the doors are quite small, there’s a pocket for flat items on the back of the driver’s seat only and the inside storage built-ins in the back of the car are almost non-existent. I bought the Limited hybrid model which is pricey and for a $40K car, I think there could be more attention to those areas. I wish the Highlander still had a five-passenger model as an alternative to the three row version or that the RAV4 had the interior dimensions and appointments of the older Highlanders. With the hybrid engine the RAV4 has great fuel economy. It’s comfortable, rides smoothly on rough road surfaces, seats two adults with plenty of room in front but I think three adult passengers in the back is too restrictive in terms of width and leg room.

  • My favorite vehicle so far!

I love this version of the RAV 4. This is the second one that I have owned. The exterior is very pleasing to the eye. Has a very classy and clean design. It’s very comfortable and the inside looks expensive and well made. It is slightly bigger than my previous RAV4 which is perfect because I needed a little more room. It is roomy yet compact enough to park. I have had it for one year with no recalls or problems and I drove it from the west coast to the east coast! The ride was very smooth. I was surprised when my dashboard told me to take a break and showed me a picture of a cup of coffee!

Not only those this car have a very nice and attractive design, it has very nice features that make it very comfortable to drive for long hours if needed. I enjoy the adaptive cruise control, the heated steering wheel and seats, the compatability with Android and ios.

  • Comes with Awful Tires

I had a blowout on the right rear tire the week I got it. I was on the highway but maintain control of the vehicle and my husband says it’s because of the all wheel drive. The average gas mileage is 38 miles per gallon not 40…It’s a pretty good car that gets pretty good gas mileage but I got the white and black XSE trim level that seems to be the most popular new style for every make of SUV. I wish I had gotten a Limited in Lunar Rock color. I would only recommend this car if you’re also prepared to buy a new set of tires because it comes with a crappy brand, Dunlop. My husband’s Tacoma had Bridgestone.

  • Versatile, capable and well appointed.

I own the 2020 rav4 XLE hybrid. The power train is smooth and responsive as it moves between gas and electric or a combination of both. 219 hp is sufficient to make on ramp merging effortless and handles towing well (1750lb capacity). The 8” clearance and various drive modes make dirt roads in the UP and 5” snow on the road no problem, with all wheel drive kicking in when needed. Handling is good, but it ain’t a race car, sitting that high off the road is limiting for handling chicanes! For a family of 4 there is ample room in the cabin for the people and a generous space in the back for all the luggage. USB ports for charging devices keep all 4 people happy with their own port. Entertainment can be from any device using Apple car play or the Android equivalent. Satellite radio and wi if are available. seats are comfortable - we had a 5 hr ride as a family and no complaints. There is plenty of assistance for the driver - auto settings for lights and wipers work well. Safety features include adaptive cruise control, rear sensing of cross traffic, lane assist and blind spot sensors. A number of these features can be turned on or off or set to aggressive or more passive settings. Controls are generally well placed and the screen is generally easy to read and navigate. Economy is great - 41 mpg in the summer with mixed driving and a little less so far this fall, but still around 40. There is an issue with using the rated gas tank capacity - it is rated at 14.5 gal, but I consistently find the pump kicking off at 10-11 gals. The gauge reads full. Something Toyota can fix, I hope, though a range of 400+ miles is enough for me to want to stop for a fill up. I’d recommend that anybody looking for versatility in a compact SU V take a test drive. For me the real competitor was the Honda CRV, but I needed towing capacity and at the time Honda wasn’t really committing to that.

  • 2020 RAV4 Hybrid XSE

Just hit 5,000 mile mark and averaging 42.7 mpg. Couldn’t be happier with purchase, and an overall great vehicle for a family of four. Comfort, ride and handling are great, and can’t really speak about reliability yet, but up to now it’s been a great experience. Hard to beat Toyota’s reputation for reliability, and a great bonus is the 2 years of free maintenance they include. If you are considering the RAV4 Hybrid I highly recommend it, and the XSE with the black roof and black rims is a sharp looking SUV.
