(light hearted music) Hi, I'm Patrick Olsen, Managing Editor for Cars.com. And this is a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country. The 2008 Town and Country, and it's sibling, the Grand Caravan, are Chrysler's fifth generation minivans.
Chrysler introduced the minivan in the 80s, and they've been the innovators in minivans all the way along. Now, they've got other things to worry about, like crossovers on their cars. One of the key things that they have in this version, is the swivel and go seats. What's cool about them is just by pull that lever, pushing on the chair, (chair clicks) you can turn around and talk to your neighbor in the back. So I know what you're thinking, why do we wanna sit looking backwards? Well Chrysler has this idea, the reason they came up with this for the 2008, is they wanted to create what they call a family room on wheels for families. And what they wanna do is create more interaction between the people in the second row and the people in the third row. The swivel chairs are just one of the things that they're doing to make that happen. So the second option is the stow and go seating for the new generation of Chrysler minivans. Now of course, these were introduced in the last generation, they proved to be a big hit. You can actually do this pretty much with one person. It's maybe easier with two, but it can be done with one. First, we gotta move the front seat all the way up now in position. Of course, when you're doing this, you're gonna wanna do it in a situation where you're stopped, you can't do this on the fly. The next thing we need to do is to pull the floor up. And your gonna wanna keep this pretty much flat against the seat in front of it. It's gonna make it a lot easier. Next the arm rest need to go straight up, pull the lever and drop the back, reach your arm back here, grab the handle, pull it up. The seat will go right into the floor. Pull the flooring back down, voila. Very quick, very easy. In these 2008 minivans, the second row is not the only row that has fancy seats. The third row is powered. And so it can be powered to move to its normal spot, it can stow in the floor, or you can also set up for tailgating purposes. With the push of one button, you can get the seats from stowed, into their normal seating position. (lighthearted music) That looks cool, and it's pretty handy when your hands are full of groceries, it's a great way to get them out of the way. (upbeat music) Same thing is also, you can stow them with a push of a button from upright, all the way down to the bottom. Again, if you're a Costco, if you're at Home Depot, and you've got stuff you gotta store in the back, and your hands are full or you're busy for time, this is a great way to get things out of the way. (upbeat music) One of the coolest things about this minivan are the tailgate seats. So you're at the game, you're hot, you're tired. You wanna take a break out of the sun. You wanna watch the kids run around, burn off energy. You can get the seats in a position that are gonna make it really comfortable for you to kick back and relax, while you wait for the game to begin. <v Male Announcer>For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com and our blog, Kicking Tires.
