Here we go. I think this one might be the one. I think for fans of electric performance, this new Hyundai IONIQ 6 N might be the 641-horsepower electric super sedan that you have been waiting for.
Now we have got a lot of hardware to cover, so let's get into it. We got some stuff to talk about. So we've got dual electric motors, in this case, 601 horsepower when you're just kind of putting around town, but with the included N Grin Boost mode, I know that's quite a mouthful, you'll have 10 seconds of 641 horsepower and 568 pounds feet of torque. That is one hot Hyundai, holy moly. Hot enough, actually, for a zero to 60 mile per hour time of just under 3.2 seconds with launch control and a top speed of 160 miles per hour, the latter being pretty dang impressive for an EV. And for a battery, we've got an 84-kilowatt-hour pack, which is good for range of, well, no idea really. Hyundai is not talking range yet, but if I'm guessing, given that there's roughly a 30% delta between an IONIQ 5 N and a standard Long Range 5, well, maybe the new 6 N has 250 miles range. That sounds pretty good, but we're gonna find out if I'm right closer to the car's production launch. As befitting the N brand, the 6 N has got all sorts of good handling bits, including revised adaptive suspension, beefier brakes, new bushings, extra structural rigidity, mount damping, new rear anti-roll bar, an electronic limited slip differential, retuned steering, and upgraded axle stiffness, among other stuff. A similar suite of software and drivetrain tuning from the 5 N is here, including, that's right, the N brand's signature e-Shift and Active Sound tech, which simulates both internal combustion engine noise and transmission shifting. A lot of people think that is pretty cool and was kind of the killer app on the 5 N, so that's great news for the new car. The inside is generally the same cockpit that we're familiar with on the existing IONIQ 6, and only now, it's kind of zhuzhed up with all sorts of Performance bits and touches from the existing IONIQ 5 N Performance Crossover SUV. That does include the 5 N's aggressive steering wheel with the N Grin Boost mode button and the Drive mode button, all these active sound buttons here, and the shift paddles, very nice. You've got the signature red and blue accents spritzed throughout the cabin. I also like these Performance front seats. The bolstering is kind of aggressive but not too much, still pretty comfortable. I like the pass-throughs for the belts, for belts if you wanted to add some, and the illuminated N badge right in the center underneath the headrest, pretty cool. Hyundai has been on an absolute roll with their Performance N products as of late, and I think this, the new IONIQ 6 N, has to be one of the coolest cars it's ever put into production. Now I definitely have some more things to say on their latest super sedan, but for my full thoughts and first look, you gotta go to cars.com/news.
