(electronic music) Hi, I'm Joe Wiesenfelder of Cars.com on behind the scenes of the Chicago Auto Show for a little concept ride and drive an exclusive. This is the Dodge Circuit.
You might've seen it before, but just a couple of months ago, it came out in a slightly different color, different front end. It is a 100% electric car powered by battery. I got the opportunity to take a ride in it just a couple minutes ago and I have to say, that electric motor has a lot of guts from low speeds. The zero to 60 is about five seconds, maybe a little bit less. The ride surprisingly good. It's pretty cramped inside, but that's because it's based on a Lotus Elise, which a lot of electric car makers use because it's small and light. The Dodge Circuit has a range of 150 to 200 miles on a charge. The charge with regular household current 110, 120 volts is about eight hours. If you have 240 volts, you can get it done in four hours. Now I know what you're thinking. This is not a very realistic car. It's flashy, it's sporty, would they really make it? And the answer is maybe. It is from a group called ENVI, short for environmental, for Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge. That is actually working on vehicles based on their existing models. They've got a Jeep, they've got a Chrysler, they've got a Dodge, etc. But in addition, they do the show car to help get some attention. They say that they will have one vehicle ready in 2010, One electric or gas electric and one battery powered at some point with a couple more to come in 2010. I thought it would be this one because battery electric is the most simple system, but when you think about it, battery electric needs a bigger battery. Batteries are expensive, so it might or might not be something like this. <v Narrator>For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com and our Blog, Kicking Tires.
