In the movies, the square, buttoned-up accountant type hoping to woo the stunning, out-of-their-league new hire over in Acquisitions undergoes a comprehensive glow-up in hopes of getting noticed: hitting the gym, new wardrobe, stylish haircut, maybe some excessive teeth whitening. The buttoned-up accountant of cars, the Toyota Camry, is attempting something similar (only without the potential HR issues) as its aesthetic improvements of late, inside and out, could go a long way in attracting any remaining car shoppers still amenable to a family sedan over an SUV.

In Cars.com’s most popular article of the past month, we get you up close and personal with the forthcoming 2025 Camry. The Camry’s alluringly evolving exterior styling is shapely and athletic — not to mention stylish, sporting an edgier-looking front end with an aggressive LED gaze and a wide, low-slung grille evocative of Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus. The interior is equally enticing, particularly in the second-highest trim level, the XLE, boasting an eye-catching quilted pattern that adorns the dash and doors, as well as roomy occupant space and well-executed infotainment.

Another Toyota — this time the 2024 Grand Highlander SUV — crashes the top five this month, though not for any reason to brag about. The Grand Highlander failed to earn either a Top Safety Pick or gold-standard Top Safety Pick+ designation from crashworthiness evaluators at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety — unfortunately ironic given the non-Grand Highlander’s stellar crash-test credentials. The Grand Highlander underperformed in the driver-side small overlap frontal crash evaluation, which approximates a collision with a tree or pole.
