Did the Fourth of July holiday weekend get you fired up to engage in that quintessentially American economic engine of buying a new car and expressing your independent spirit out on the open highway? (Or perhaps an unfortunate fireworks mishap has necessitated a new ride?) Whatever your reason for making a beeline from the backyard barbecue to the dealership lot, you still have time to score some savings from holiday discounts.

In Cars.com’s most popular news story of the past week — our annual roundup of the best Independence Day deals we could find on new cars — there’s still a price reduction to be had even after holiday revelry has ended. Unlike the 2025 Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs, both of which offered sparkly purchase incentives for the Fourth that fizzled out earlier this week, the fuse is still burning on a 2025 Nissan Rogue compact SUV deal that runs through Aug. 4. The Rogue’s rugged, off-road-themed Rock Creek trim is available with a factory discount of $1,750 for an approximate price after savings of $33,000 to $34,500, or roughly 5% off.

For full details on discounts still to be had on the 2025 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek, as well as the ones that got away on the 2025 Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe, follow the link below to the No. 1 news story of the week.

In other Rogue-related Nissan news, the automaker is recalling the better part of half a million vehicles for an engine cooling system issue — specifically that the engine bearings may have defects that can lead to engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash. The federal safety recall affects some 443,800 model-year 2019-20 Altima sedans and 2021-24 Rogue SUVs, as well as model-year 2019-22 Infiniti QX50 and 2022 QX55 SUVs from Nissan’s luxury brand, all of which are equipped with either 1.5-liter three-cylinder or variable-compression turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. Notification will begin Aug. 25, and owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealership for a specified free repair.

For everything you need to know about the Nissan recall — including the specific remedy, as well as how to contact the automaker and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the meantime with questions — follow the link below to the No. 7 news story on this week’s countdown of most read articles.
