Following one of the year’s biggest recalls for a brakelight issue in March, the Nissan Sentra is the subject of yet another sizable recall. This time, it’s a bent tie rod in the steering linkage at issue for nearly 139,000 model-year 2020-21 variants of the compact sedan.

Specifically, the left or right tie rod may be bent, weakening it to where it can break. A broken tie rod can cause a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

Dealers will inspect and replace the bent tie rods, as necessary, for free. Nissan will begin notifying owners Aug. 5, but if you have further questions, you can call the automaker at 800-867-7669, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
