149,000-Plus Ford Broncos Recalled for Failing Shock Absorbers
After recalling its Escape-based Bronco Sport SUV (and Maverick pickup truck) Thursday over an issue with the battery, Ford is back with another recall of nearly 149,500 examples of its larger Bronco SUV for corrosion around the rear shock absorbers.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2021-24 Badlands-trim or Sasquatch Package-equipped Broncos. In these vehicles, corrosion may occur between the external shock reservoir, mounting flange and damper body, causing the external reservoir to separate from the vehicle and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
There’s no remedy yet, but Ford will mail interim notices to owners Feb. 3; a second notice will be sent once a remedy becomes available.
