2007 Chevy Silverado Revealed

Today, GM announced two of its most important new vehicles for the next few years. Combined, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are the best-selling full-size trucks in the country, while the Ford F-Series is the best-selling nameplate. Now there are all-new Silverados and Sierras on the way for truck guys to drool over.
While many pundits say full-size truck sales are down because of high oil prices, it could also be because truck buyers are savvy about their rides and know that GM and Toyota have all-new models ready to roll for the 2007 model year.
The 2007 Chevy Silverado comes in three cab styles — regular, extended and Crew Cab — and three box lengths — short (5 feet 8 inches), standard (6 feet 6 inches) and long (8 feet). But those are just the configurations. The real meat is under the hood and inside the cabin.
There are seven — yes, seven — different powerplants available for the Silverado, ranging from a 195-hp V-6 to a 367-hp V-8. Five of the six V-8s offered have cylinder deactivation for improved mileage. The top towing capacity will be 10,500 pounds. GM says that’s segment-leading, but Ford just announced it has upgraded the 2007 F-150 to pull as much. Yes, this is a war, folks.
Even more impressive than the advanced and economical engines is the much-improved interior. The Silverado LTZ features the same sophisticated dashboard and plush seats as the all-new Chevy Tahoe full-size SUV. That interior is one of the best GM has ever delivered.
In an odd move, GM is offering a distinctly different interior for the Silverado LT with or without a front bench seat. Since we haven’t seen one in person we can’t speak to its quality, but from the pictures below it looks solid.
Pricing and sale dates haven’t been announced, but expect stickers to stay close to the current range of $15,840 – $37,980, with the lower number more likely to rise. There is no hybrid version yet planned for this new Silverado, but the entire current lineup of trucks, including the hybrid, will continue on in 2007 as the “Silverado Classic.”
