This week you’ll be reading a lot about the New York Auto Show even though it doesn’t open, even to the media, until next week. Why? We’re not quite sure, but a number of automakers have interesting new cars they want to announce a bit early. This morning, Hyundai started the week off with a look at its Genesis concept.
The V-8 powered, rear-wheel-drive sedan is actually already green-lit for production in 2008. It’ll have more than 300 horsepower under the hood and feature a bevy of safety features. The big news is that the car will be Hyundai’s first “luxury” offering in the United States, but the company is saying the starting price will be “well under” $30,000. That makes us think this might not be as luxurious as Hyundai wants us to believe. Regardless, it’s still an attractive sedan even if it doesn’t break much new ground.
