The CT 200h will start at $29,120, excluding an $875 destination fee, when it goes on sale in March. That makes it more affordable than its HS 250h stable mate ($34,650).

The 134-horsepower hybrid powertrain will have an EPA-estimated rating of 43 mpg in the city and 40 mpg on the highway, with a combined rating of 42 mpg. That makes the CT 200h the second most fuel-efficient hybrid on the market, ahead of the Honda Insight and Honda Civic Hybrid — which are both rated at 41 mpg combined — but behind the 50-mpg Toyota Prius.

The base CT comes well-equipped with push-button start, keyless entry, leatherette seating upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel, six-speaker stereo with satellite radio, USB port, 17-inch aluminum wheels and dual-zone automatic climate control. Optional features include a moonroof, heated seats, genuine leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, LED headlights, a backup camera and adaptive cruise control.

All models come with eight airbags, including driver and front-passenger knee airbags.
