Colbert pointed out that most of the Facebook responses mentioned how the Leaf owners had never seen another one on the road. Nissan has only sold 3,875 Leafs through June.

There are popular car waves such as the Jeep Wrangler technique. Porsche 911 owners flash their headlights at other 911 drivers, but this obviously wouldn’t work for the Leaf. Flashing the Leaf’s headlights uses electricity.

Colbert’s retort is funny, but as big corporate marketing pushes go, trying to build a loyal fan community isn’t the worst thing.
