Vehicles Affected: Approximately 3,200 model-year 2013 Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrids

The Problem: An update to the vehicle interface control module may have disabled the cell balancing function, causing a low-voltage condition that may cause the vehicle to lose propulsion, increasing the risk of crash.

The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the vehicle interface control module for free.

What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-222-1020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
