2014-2019 Mitsubishi Outlander, Outlander PHEV: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 177,000 model-year 2014-19 Mitsubishi Outlander SUVs and model-year 2018-19 Outlander PHEV SUVs

The Problem: The second-row center seat belt buckle may interfere with the right-side belt buckle when the seatbacks are folded down. The interference may cause the right-side buckle cover to come off, making the buckle latch inoperable and unable to restrain an passenger, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will modify the second-row center seat belt buckle cover, install a new warning label to the second-row seat support base and provide a new warning label insert for the owner’s manual for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mitsubishi will begin notifying owners Sept. 11. Owners can call the automaker at 888-648-7820, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
