The problem: Air conditioning either does not cool, or the compressor makes a grinding or groaning noise as it does cool. Either symptom is intermittent. This may be due to a faulty air-conditioning compressor regulator valve.
Corrective action: Dealers will replace either the air-conditioning refrigerant regulator valve in the compressor or the air-conditioning compressor.
Warranty info: This service is being performed free of charge under Volkswagen’s new-car or extended warranty, whichever applies.
