Vehicle Overview
What it is: Land Rover’s flagship Range Rover SUV seats up to five and uses aluminum construction to save weight, helping both performance and gas mileage. Buyers have a choice of either a gas V-6 or V-8 engine — both of which are supercharged — or a turbo-diesel V-6. The Range Rover comes in two sizes, with the long-wheelbase version adding 7.3 inches of rear legroom and limousine-like amenities such as reclining and massaging rear seats. Competitors include the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Porsche Cayenne and Lexus LX 570.
New for 2017
A new SVAutobiography Dynamic version of the regular-wheelbase Range Rover features a 550-horsepower, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine and a lowered suspension for better on-road handling.
New features include Blind Spot Assist, an Intelligent Speed Limiter that uses road signs to set the SUV’s speed, and Advanced Tow Assist. Advanced Tow Assist lets the driver use the Terrain Response 2 rotary controller to guide an attached trailer when reversing. In addition, the InControl Touch Pro multimedia system with a 10.2-inch touch-screen is now standard.
