Vehicles Affected: Approximately 150 model-year 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 and 3500, and Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 work vans

The Problem: Missing spot welds on the front side wall, connecting the door portal to the hinge reinforcements in the A-pillar area, could affect vehicle strength in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and add any missing spot welds for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner manufacturer Daimler Vans will begin notifying owners June 29. Owners can call the automaker at 877-762-8267, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA's website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
