Vehicles Affected: Approximately 1.2 million model-year 2018-19 Nissan and Infiniti vehicles that include Frontier and Titan pickup trucks and NV and NV200 work vans
The Problem: The backup camera and display settings can be adjusted such that the rearview image is no longer visible and the system will retain that setting the next time the vehicle is placed in Reverse. The lack of a backup camera display image increases the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will update the backup camera settings software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Nissan will notify owners in phases beginning Oct. 21, with all affected vehicles activated by Nov. 11. Owners can call Nissan at 800-867-7669, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
