CARS.COM —Audi’s redesigned 2018 Q5 made an appearance at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. The compact SUV has an exterior design that takes cues from its siblings the A4 sedan and Q7 SUV (among other Audi models). The larger, flat six-sided grille is now part of Audi’s design language, as are sharper, more defined lines. One exterior line that provides a nice optical illusion is a cut line below the windows that extends past the A-pillar and disguises the hood’s gap.
Audi lengthened the new Q5 by about an inch and used that slight increase to improve rear-passenger comfort. Various new technologies are available in the Q5, including the Virtual Cockpit gauge cluster, the Audi MMI media system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration systems.
