2019 Audi Q3: Everything You Need to Know

Subcompact SUVs increasingly are key entry models for luxury brands as they take the role formerly filled by small cars, and the category has become intensely competitive. Audi has redesigned its Q3 for 2019 to take on fresh rivals coming fast, and the second generation of the small SUV got a little bigger and nicer inside. It also received an infusion of tech updates to the multimedia and controls, both making it more premium and addressing issues many had with the original.

Though the new generation already was on sale in Europe, it arrived here as a late 2019 model with a debut in April at the 2019 New York International Auto Show. The new Q3 takes on such rivals as the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, Volvo XC40, Cadillac XT4, Infiniti QX30 and Lexus UX, aiming to capture luxury newbies for Audi as well as attract premium owners looking to downsize to a more compact SUV.
While the new styling is evolutionary — and very much in line with other new Audis — there is a big new grille. There are more dramatic changes inside, too, including taking advantage of 3 more inches of wheelbase and a sliding rear seat to offer significantly better comfort for passengers in the back. And key to claiming status as a true premium SUV in a smaller package, the new model does a better job overall of delivering a big dose of the luxury — the materials quality, features and sophisticated tech — of its larger siblings.
