2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Recall Alert

Vehicles Affected: Approximately 4,300 model-year 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter work vans

The Problem: The steering shaft that connects to the steering gear may disconnect without warning, causing a sudden loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

The Fix: Mercedes-Benz will advise owners to stop driving the van immediately. Dealers will inspect the bolts connecting the steering shaft to the steering gear, fully tightening or adjusting them, as necessary, for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz did not immediately provide an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
