The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is entering the 2024 model year with several updates, including the addition of new styling packages, as well as the new TurboMax designation for its 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and a diesel option for the ZR2.

The exterior styling of the 2024 Silverado carries over from the 2023 model, but Chevrolet is adding a pair of new styling packages for 2024. High Country variants have a new Midnight Edition Package available that replaces the chrome bright work with darkened accents and adds black power-operated assist steps with LED lighting. Meanwhile, a separate blackout appearance package adds darkened trim and graphics for Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, RST and ZR2 trims. The Silverado also gets two new exterior colors, and an active exhaust system with a Sport mode is now included on models equipped with the 6.2-liter V-8.

Inside, base WT models now get standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as access to OnStar; the rest of the Silverado family continues to use the larger 13.4-inch infotainment system. A rear seat belt indicator system has also been added to all 2024 Silverado 1500 models. High Country trucks now get standard adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking assist is now included with the Safety and WT Safety packages. Other standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane departure steering assist and forward collision alert.

Performance for the 2024 Silverado still comes from a quartet of engines. Chevrolet renamed the 310-horsepower, turbocharged 2.7-liter four cylinder the TurboMax. Also available are a 355-hp, 5.3-liter V-8; a 420-hp, 6.2-liter V-8; and a 305-hp, turbo-diesel 3.0-liter inline-six, which is newly available on the ZR2. An eight-speed automatic transmission is used on trucks equipped with the 2.7-liter engine, while the other three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the WT, Custom and LT versions, while the rest of the lineup can only be equipped with four-wheel drive. With the 2.7-liter engine, the Silverado can tow up to 9,500 pounds with RWD or 9,300 pounds with 4WD; 11,300 pounds with RWD or 11,000 pounds with 4WD with the 5.3-liter V-8; 13,300 pounds with the 4WD-only 6.2-liter V-8 or RWD diesel models; and 13,000 pounds for 4WD diesel variants.

Chevrolet didn’t immediately reveal pricing for the 2024 Silverado 1500, but expect the truck’s pricing to be similar to the 2023 model’s. Currently, the 2023 Silverado 1500 starts at $38,195 (including $1,895 destination charge).
