2024 Tesla Model 3 Receives Numerous Updates, Priced From $40,380

Tesla has announced updates to the all-electric Model 3 sedan on X, formerly known as Twitter. The post confirms subtle exterior modifications and a thorough interior rework. As Tesla continues to chase volume over per-unit profitability, the base price of the refreshed 2024 Model 3 also drops a few hundred bucks to $40,380 (all prices include $1,390 destination charge).

What’s New?

On the outside, the Model 3 gets a redesigned nose that features slimmer lighting elements and a smoother front fascia, which Tesla claims has been optimized for maximum aerodynamic efficiency. New wheel designs are said to contribute to increased range and lower noise, and two new colors are available: Stealth Grey and Ultra Red. Tesla also says it has stiffened the Model 3’s body, and an updated suspension tune should deliver a “more refined and relaxed ride quality.”
The bigger changes are inside. Tesla says the EV’s interior is all-new — and quieter — thanks to 360 acoustic glass. The freshened environs feature customizable ambient lighting, ventilated front seats and an available 17-speaker sound system. A tidier bezel for the center infotainment screen expands it to 15.4 inches, while the screen itself is said to be brighter, with faster and more responsive software. Additionally, rear passengers now get a dedicated 8-inch screen with which to command their own climate controls and entertainment.
Powertrain Specs and Range
The superficial overhaul didn’t touch the Model 3’s battery pack or electric motors; it’s still offered in two configurations. The standard rear-wheel-drive setup uses a single motor on the rear axle and is rated for 272 miles on a charge, according to Tesla. The step-up Long Range dual-motor all-wheel-drive model’s larger battery pack — Tesla doesn’t specify how large — can go an estimated 341 miles before needing to plug in. When connected to a Tesla Supercharger, either Model 3 is said to be able to add as much as 175 miles of range in just 15 minutes.
Standard and Available Safety Features
Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitors and lane departure steering assist are standard on every Model 3. Tesla’s optional Enhanced Autopilot enables hands-free highway driving with automated lane changes and navigation, as well as automated parking and the Summon feature, which allows the car to drive itself through a parking lot to and from its parking spot. Additionally, the controversial Full Self Driving incorporates traffic-signal recognition and automatic steering on city streets.

Availability and Pricing
Tesla’s announcement says the updated Model 3 launched today, but the automaker’s website includes a link where visitors can sign up to learn when the car is available to test-drive. That might be next week, but seeing as Tesla is infamous for stretching timelines, it might also be in the third quarter of 2025. A notice on the company’s configurator estimates delivery by February for cars ordered now. The refreshed 2024 Model 3 starts at $40,380 with RWD and $47,380 for the Long Range AWD variant.
