The 2024 model year marks the Infiniti QX80’s 11th on the market since it was rebranded from the QX56 , and a makeover is in store for the large three-row SUV’s next chapter both in terms of style and powertrain. The 2025 QX80 gets even more chiseled looks, trades its V-8 for a V-6 and switches to the Google Built-In infotainment system.

The new three-row SUV makes its debut ahead of the 2024 New York International Auto Show, and it might look familiar — it resembles the QX Monogram Concept that debuted at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Exterior Updates
The redesigned Infiniti QX80 maintains its large, upright proportions, and a lot of design points carry over from the concept, including those that soften its edges and add some new sleekness. In front, there’s a big grille that wears a vertical bar design and slim headlights, both borrowed straight from the concept. A blacked-out D-pillar in the back and flush-mount door handles help give it a more slippery look than the outgoing model.
The concept wasn’t the SUV’s only design inspiration; Infiniti says much of the QX80’s styling cues are reminiscent of things in nature. For example, the brand says the shape of the LED daytime running lights reference the organic shapes of a bamboo forest. In addition, the full-width taillight element uses over 300 LED bulbs and is supposed to simulate reflections of light on a body of water, according to Infiniti.

Cabin and Technology Updates
The previous QX80’s cabin was a luxurious place, and it looks like the 2025 model builds on that with more opulence. Highlights include open-pore ash wood trims with laser-etched metal inlays, available semi-aniline leather-appointed seats with hand-finished stitching, and an available 64-color ambient lighting system the brand says is inspired by the four seasons.
The cabin also takes on a more modern, streamlined look thanks to a new screen setup and infotainment system. Two screens blend together; one is a reconfigurable gauge cluster, the other a new touchscreen infotainment system that uses the Google Built-In operating system, which bundles several Google products, such as Assistant and Maps, and adapts them for easier in-car use. In addition, a premium sound system is available. The Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system features 24 speakers, 1,200 watts of power, titanium tweeters and four Highline speakers mounted in the roof.
The 2025 QX80 features other new tech, such as the Biometric Cooling system. Infiniti says the system can detect when a second-row passenger may be feeling warm and then automatically direct cooling air toward them. Also available are the new Front Wide View and Invisible Hood View camera settings, which display tricky-to-see obstacles. With Front Wide View, the view past parked cars or around corners in tight garages is displayed. Invisible Hood View allows the driver to see a projected image of what’s beyond the vehicle’s hood, such as hidden curbs or car wash tracks.
Powertrain Specs
For 2025, the QX80 trades its V-8 engine for a V-6, but a drop in cylinders doesn’t mean a downgrade in power. The new engine is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 good for 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Compared with the outgoing 5.6-liter V-8, power is up by 50 hp and torque is up 103 pounds-feet. Rear-wheel drive is again standard; four-wheel drive is available.
The new engine pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters; the outgoing model used a seven-speed automatic. There’s no word yet on fuel economy, but it can only get better; the outgoing base model is EPA-rated at 14/20/16 mpg city/highway/combined.
The 2025 QX80 also gets an available electronic air suspension, which can lower the SUV by about 3 inches when parked for easier cargo and passenger loading. There’s also an available Dynamic Digital Suspension, which evaluates road surfaces and then regulates body motions for a more comfortable driving experience.
