2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Up Close: We Go Skin-Deep

We’re cutting right to the chase with the 2025 Porsche Taycan: Our stationary seat time in Porsche’s refreshed performance electric sedan at the 2024 New York International Auto Show didn’t reveal all that much about the new-ish car. The overwhelming majority of the changes are found under the skin, not on it, so you’re gonna have to wait until we get some real seat time out on the road.

But, this means it’s good news for folks who liked the prior Taycan but were holding out for some much-needed hardware improvements. There’s plenty of that, starting with juicer battery tech and revised motors across the range, but you can check out our full breakdown from the car’s debut earlier this year.

A Little Retouched

Our first in-person taste arrives with a top-shelf 2025 Taycan Turbo S in a demure hue of Shade Green Metallic, continuing Porsche’s full exploration of the color spectrum. At first look, it seems like everything is where we left it, though our eyes are quickly drawn to the revised front end. The retouched areas of the lower bumper stylistically work well, lending slight angularity and a distinct techno-cool vibe that’s right in line with the modern electric-vehicle design language.

There’s new 20- and 21-inch wheel designs, and we dig the darkened 21-inchers on the display car. This was our first chance to check out the brand’s new Turbonite trim, and the smoked, metallic Porsche crests perfectly complemented the dull green paint. It works in the “now,” but we can totally see this dark motif appearing rather “2020s” in the coming decades.

Subtle Changes Inside

Interior wise, the show car wore none of the new upholstery options like the leather-free Race-Tex kit, so it’s mostly as we left it in the prior model. We also didn’t get a chance to pair our phones to check out the MyPorsche app in Apple CarPlay, but both Porsche’s infotainment interface and the general interior design weren’t really in dire need of an upgrade, so we’re fine with the subtle changes.

Frustrated we don’t have more insights on the 2025 Porsche Taycan? Hey, we’re working with what we’re given, and in the case of the refresh, it’s all happening behind the scenes. Check back later this year after we’ve gotten some quality moving seat time for our full thoughts.
