Affected vehicles include model-year 2019-22 G70, model-year 2018-20 G80 and model-year 2017-22 G90 sedans equipped with turbocharged 3.3-liter V-6 engines. Exposure to high temperatures from engine components can cause the left turbocharger oil feed pipe to crack and leak oil into the exhaust manifold, increasing the risk of an engine fire. Warning signs of the issue include white smoke, a burning smell or oil leakage. This recall replaces a previous one from 2019 for some 8,000 model-year 2018 G80s and model-year 2017-18 G90s that also increased the risk of an engine fire. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall will need this updated remedy.
To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the left turbocharger oil feed pipe for free. Hyundai will notify owners May 7, but owners with further questions in the meantime can contact the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 019G), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
