Ford is recalling certain Escape SUVs and Super Duty pickup trucks over an issue that may prevent the instrument panel from illuminating. The issue affects nearly 38,700 vehicles.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2023 Escapes and Super Duty F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 pickup trucks equipped with a digital instrument panel cluster. The digital instrument panel is responsible for displaying important information, including the speedometer, warning lights and messages. The joints of the cluster’s modules may have been improperly soldered during production, which could prevent the cluster from illuminating, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the cluster module or instrument panel, as necessary, for free. Ford will begin notifying owners Aug. 14, but those with further questions can call Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 23C25), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
