Affected vehicles include model-year 2021 A6, A7, A8, RS 7, S6, S7 and S8 sedans; Q7, Q8, RS Q8, SQ7 and SQ8 SUVs; and A6 Allroad and RS 6 Avant wagons. The issue is with the instrument panel display, which may fail due to a software error. If the display shuts down, drivers will be unable to view critical safety information like the speedometer or gear indicators, increasing the risk of a crash.
To resolve the issue, dealers will update the instrument panel module software for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 30, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact Audi customer service at 800-253-2834 (Audi’s number for this recall is 90VC), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
